The biggest problem is that most events are nothing more than sales now for the most part. And that is not the point of an event in my opinion.

I've always felt that events should be more about brand awareness, and getting people together to enjoy cigars. It also allows you to garner feedback as a manufacturer. However, store owners wants revenue, which is understandable. There has to be a happy median.

Your local Perdomo rep might be a great guy, but honestly, I won't come out for a rep and a Buy3/Get1 'event'. On the other hand, when it's a Litto or Pete or any number of industry guys (not reps), I'll be more likely to come out. Freebies and swag don't sway me.
What brings me out:
-Opportunity to meet and learn from industry leaders
-Invite from a brother to use event as herf opportunity
-Food
-Football
-Seating

So I go to about an event a month. These are mostly DE events, however i went to fuente mania and the tat/DPG event both at holts.

For me its a chance to speak with people in the business and go to different shops, and mingle with a like minded crowd. Each event i go to i drop coin based on recommendations or what the guest of honor is smoking (like Willy Herrara, Pete, Don carlos). IT also helps build a report with the local sales reps who obviously hook you up (pre-release stuff, ect..) .

For me the nicest place to relax is holts and anthony is a good dude. Hotls being in the heart of philly attracts a wide range of crowd that i can just sit back smoke my cigar and listen to their stories (like adult story time for me). Most of these events are catered with food and sometimes spirits, so this typically negates what i would end up paying in tax and the night costs the same as if i bought those cigars on the web.

The swag is just added bonus and the shirts or hats i rock on the weekends or to specific events, where appropriate.

To whomever wanted to know what swag someone like me is looking for besides free cigars; posters or wall art to give out or raffle would be nice since I'm in the market to decorate the walls of my cigar/scotch room.
