Many of you will say I am nuts, but the Trinidad Robusto T is the weakest cigar in the Trinidad lineup. I am not sorry to see them go. It will take me a while to smoke through the 50 or so I have left. So many more robustos that I would rather smoke (PSD4, CoRo, BRC, etc.). And I would rather smoke any other Trini over the Robusto T. I don't understand how these received such hype a couple years ago (unfortunately, they are not "the bomb"). I think the fact that you can still find the Robusto T everywhere is evidence enough that they are not well regarded generally, especially for the cost. BCEs on the other hand. . . try to find those.

I read a lot of people saying they really like the Trinidad and hated to see it go... but you're right, the proof is in the pudding! Look at the LGC Tainos too, poof!

Further, it's shocking to me that a 24 box of Robusto Ts are $330ish while a box of Coloniales, a much better cigar, are $190ish. In what Bizzaroworld does that make sense? I'm calling the Robusto T a failed HSA experiment. They know it and pulled it from the lineup.

I am not going to lie, I do love me some Trini Robusto T's. I would not know how the compared with other Trini's though. I have yet to have a different size. What would be your preferred Trini?

Smoked a few and didn't really care for them. Amazing that they were more expensive than a box of Fundadores.

Coloniales or a Fundadore when you have more time.

I never even had the chance to try the roboT I love the format especially in the trini line but alas trinis I guess shouldn't be bigger RG's. I absolutely love coloniales and fundis so as long as they stay all will be right with the world!

I'll agree and disagree with you Commander. I do still think they're a great cigar, and part of the reason they were so well loved I think is due to how well they smoke for being such young tobacco. One thing it is not however, is a bold, in your face cigar...where some others you mention (SD4, CoRO etc) fit that description a little better. The Robusto T was always described as Tea and Honey...and those are light, crisp/clean flavors, which is what I think of when I think back to the Robusto Ts I've smoked.

That said, is it Overpriced?....yeah, its a spendy stick, so I'd agree in that respect. And no doubt a large part of the reason these are still so readily available is the price tag on em'.

Worst cigar in the Trini line by far. I'd smoke Coloniales all day long over these. I find the Coloniales to be a much more well balanced cigar at a hell of a better price point. I actually gave all of my Robusto T's away I disliked them so much.

I was bored on my train-ride into work this morning...and so googled this cigar. I watched this video way back when 1st looking at these, but it's reiterates (albeit not the tea/honey flavors) what I think this particular cigar is...and I think why you either love it, or hate it.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvsGdkQVcmc"]Cuban Cigar Review - Trinidad Robusto T - YouTube[/ame]

There have been reviews i've watched Rob/Ken do that my palate doesn't agree with...but w/ this one, some interesting comments that I picked out and can echo: "consistent", "cerebral", "polarized the cigar community", "If you love Upmann Sir Winston you'll love these". Coincidentally, I just defended the Upmann SW here recently for a very similar reason to sticking up for these here Robusto Ts.

As with anything though, "hype" is a real thing. Smoke what you like and like what you smoke (as cliche as that statement has become, they're words to live by). Not every cigar will be for everyone....that's a given. Had I been able to figure that out a year or two earlier into the game, I'd have saved myself a crap ton of money...lol.

Blasphemy steve. You will pay that EL price and like it!

To me and certainly several others, Trinidad is beyond a doubt, completely different from the other marcas. It's the pride of cuba. Theres nothing close to it. Period. There's care, preservation, and quality that goes into this marca - you can literally taste the difference.

Trinidads have that absolutely distinguishable taste that i can only describe as a frozen orange juice concentrate. The first run 04 reyes had that. So did the 98 fundis. And the robusto extras. I have been hoarding the REs. The Ts are interesting because, well you can tell the tobacco is of fantastic quality, the construction is excellent - the cigar, by itself, is excellent - but there's really nothing Trinidad about it. Much like the Coloniales. Dont get me wrong, i love both of these cigars for what they are.

There's also the providence of the cigars. The HF OUS JUN 09s are exceptional. As are the OUS OUR 09 Coloniales. The short robo t are also awesome btw.

Who knows, the Ts might resurface as an EL.

Ps - that video review must be ghosted since the box is from may 09 and the review was done in jan 09!

I like the Trinidad Robusto Ts for a change of pace. The Fundys are the best in the lineup IMHO. I will miss them however, that means more money for my beloved cohibas.

The Rob T is my favorite Cuban robusto for sure. It is very different, though, as I find Trinidad to be in general. The Trinidad marca is what got me into Habanos actually, because in it I found something that was really different but really good (to me).

I'm sad to see the Robusto Extra go as well. I haven't had very many, but really liked them. The killer to those (and the T's) is the price.

Oh well, I do need to figure out a good year for the Coloniales and buy some more of those.
