Ok, good to hear.

He is not a very good friend per se, he is the husband of a co-worker of mine.

It's not a big collection but I know it's worth ~8000$.

Wow!!! My suggestion would be for him to have someone watch them for him. There are some very good reasons that you are supposed to burp your humidors. We can debate whether or not it helps mold form (from everything I've seen and heard the stale air allows the spores to hatch at a lower temp), but it can also affect the tobacco and cause the cigar to turn sour. Either way, an $8000 investment needs a little more attention.

Heck at the avg of $26 per stick (assuming 300) that is a lot of money not to make sure things are ok. He just needs to find someone to watch them. That is just too much money to put under the sofa and hope its ok when you get back.
