Nice thread.
I am in the second category. I have gotten hooked on aged SLR Lonsdales... recently bought 3 boxes. Looking at 2 more. I will not even bring up Boli PCs or Le Hoyo du Princes.
.
But I am a little sicker than most.

I'm sort of between the two. I much prefer in my cigar buying and whisky buying to actually be buying and smoking/drinking rather than hoarding. One of the fun parts is getting a new stick/whisky and then trying it that day etc. When I have too many in as now, part of the fun goes. I've found a couple of US suppliers now that do sampler shipments to the UK with either one to 5 of the same brand mixed. When I get these it really brings the joy of cigars back to life for me, knowing that i've only a few and then onto the next new cigar, bad or good. :smokingme

Variety baby!

The only thing preventing me from buying a variety of boxes as opposed to fivers is the wife. Don't get me wrong, she has no problem with me buying cigars with my quarterly bonus but she is adimant about no more storage.

Shit, buying and doing splits are so much fun I have to give away cigars to you guys to make room for my splits. :eyebrow:

If I ever get a cabinet humidor I would likely get it with two singles drawers and room for about 15 boxes. That way I can still do the splits and such and also have full boxes of my favorites sleeping.
This funny because thanks to many of you guys here this is exactly what I am doing today...a year and a half later.

Although, I have no where near fifteen boxes yet

Same here. I don't know that I'll ever settle down to just a small group of 'regulars'. Certainly there are some I try to keep around, but I still like variety.

I've been lucky enough to have some gracious brothers let me sample enough marques to know what I like and have been able to fine tune it down to a handful of marques/vitolas that I like.

So at first it was variety, now it's more of a staple. When I run out of a paticular box I will rebuy w/o thoughts of trying something else first.

I love splits. Let sme try a few and then buy a box. I have 'ahem" a number of boxes at this point with four or five resting and smoking out of the rest. The two box deals are what really helps. One to smoke and one to save. They never last too long so buying a few with age is fun.

I'm pretty set on what I like, its just no possible for me at this point to go and spend on boxes. So for the time being its splits or fivers.

Well, I still pick up 5 or 10 here and there when a botl has some to sell. It gives me a chance to try some I don't have or need to try again. Once I decide i like one, I buy a box or two. I'm open to trying any of them, just out of room at the time...4 more weeks, and I'm back in the saddle again!

Mostly just done samplers, but I did a couple box splits a while ago too. I think if I bought a box I'd have to sell a fiver or two just to offset the cost a little bit. I really like how some vendors have 10- and 15-packs, tho. And I have been eyeing a certain 2x15-pack of PSD4s.....

I still like doing some splits or buying fives and tens of cigars I like and one I have not tried. This keeps the singles draw full and me enjoying great cigars.

As for the cigars I like. I usually have two-four boxes of them aging. I try to age them at least five years before smoking.

With my luck in the lottery I've had a lot of variety and have been able to narrow down what I like. I will still buy 5'ers of gars I haven't tried and looking forward to the day I can age what I like.

I don't have the cash flow that I need for my cigars so lately I have been buying fivers and then trying them to see what I like. I do have a few boxes but still am looking for a few other cigars to hoard other than my favorites the SLR A and Regios.
