If and when Fidel is gone, would you visit Cuba? Once he is gone, do you think that our 'issues' would be gone? Meaning, would communisim (sp) go away there?

I'd be interested in visiting Cuba myself. Not just for cigars, but I grew up knowing many cuban people as well.

Just wanting to see everyone's thoughts here.

I'd love to visit, before and after FC. I believe Cuba would remain socialist at minimum because the powers really in charge wouldn't change.

I would as well like to visit before and after Fidel. The whole change of guard would take some time and probadly will work more with the US to reach an amicable agreement on politics. Socialism, and communism is a great theory but in practice human nature won't allow it to take place.

It isn't Fidel we need to worry about. It is his crazy ass brother Raoul who will take over when Fidel is gone. They will go from communist to fascist and all sorts of human rights will be violated. 5-10 years of hell down there before he is overthrown by his own people or us (IMO). Then we can start taking three day vacations down there.

I'd love to visit Cuba. For that matter I'd love to visit other cigar producing countries (DR, Nic) to tour the factories. That is really a dream for me. I hope to one day though.

I've thought a lot about getting down there. I love the Caribbean, I've read that the scuba diving is fabulous, and, oh yea, the cigars. It's fun to think about the possibilities!

I have plans on going in August of this year.

You still go if you want to go. I have friends that go all the time.

Funny, I was just thinking about this yesterday and up pops this thread.

Here is a site I found with some info: http://www.usacubatravel.com/

Rpb would you mind sending me a PM with some info? I am really interested in this and it would be great to possibly travel/meet up with some other botl's.

I'd love to go there someday. With or without Fidel in charge.

As Tom mentioned there are some great old American cars down there that the Cubans keep running with anything they can find. There is a documentary on the cars of Cuba that shows up on PBS occasionally that everyone should see.
