The only problem would be the money situation, besides actually getting there. You'd have to have an abudent supply of Euro on hand and according to Nino, 1.05 CUC for 1 Euro.

I've seen that...they really have to improvise with the old parts...sometimes fabricating their own.
I figured you probably saw it Todd since it was one of the first couple of specials PBS did in HD.

why do you say that? they still accept USD but charge a premium. And they take Canadian dollars as well.

I must've read wrong, but about 6 months ago I thought they quit taking USD :dunno: But any currency exchange is definitely in the favor of CUC.

AFAIK they still take US$ unless it's changed in the last 4 months. There was a 10% premium to exchange; either buying or selling. Overall it's better to take Euro or Canadian currency, if you have to change your US$ before you go. Last time I was there it was $100CAN= 75 CUC. Credit card purchases were $1.11 US= 1CUC.

Ah okay, that's what it was. WTF was I thinking about. But still, 10% is crazy

Yeah, but just plan ahead of time and carry Canadian/European cash and you're all set. Not like you would use a credit/debit card there anyway... im sure it would be flagged stolen if it showed up in Cuba hah
