This is my experience and cbid advice I have to pass on after buying from them for the past 6 years.
Do your online store research for what you could get them for and do not bid more than that as was already said. Let the others over pay they keep the site in operation and allow us to get good deals.
Pay attention to the "yesterday's news" cigars on there. The ones that aren't the current hot ticket items can be had for screaming deals. For example I recently picked up a box of Monte Serie V mini beliscoso for $100. I'm still amazed I got a $200 box of smokes for that cheap.
Quickies, sometimes, are a better way to go since they have less time for bidding.
My last piece of advice is to put your bid in as early as possible to the max you would pay. I don't know about everyone else but if I put in a bid and someone else automatically outbids me I figure they have the price set to retail and I might as well just go order it. Otherwise you will allow Cbid to set the hooks they have in the water and you will keep bidding till you are paying more than retail.
Ooh and just to cover one phenomenon that happens to me at least. It goes like this. I intend to buy 3-4 lots so I bid on 7-8 figuring I'll be outbid on about half of them. After all I base my retail prices off the best price I can find and not just on cigarsintl.com as I suspect many do. Well I let the auctions run without really checking back unless I am really psyched about the lot. Then I'll get an email letting me know I have won 8 auctions and my grand total comes to $430 or something like that. Watch yourself........
