Why is Brett suddenly turning himself into a media hog? Seems like he is just doing this for the attention. Bad form Brett

Brett Favre tells teammates he is returning

Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre has told the teammates that traveled to meet with him that he will return to the team this season, sources have told FOXSports.com's Jay Glazer. Favre is believed to be flying back to Minnesota with DE Jared Allen, OG Steve Hutchinson and PK Ryan Longwell. Neither Favre nor his agent has confirmed his return.

Sure Favre has definitely drawn it out the last few years and has brought this drama to himself... but the media such as ESPN and the like deserve as much blame as Favre himself for all the drama. They are the ones that has turned this into a zoo. If they would treat this like a normal story and not show live coverage from helicopters overhead, fly reporters to camp out in his home town, talk non-stop all day long over reported Tweets etc, this wouldn't be such a big deal.

I am telling you, it is brilliant. More press = more comercial offers = more money.

Actually, his constant need to remain in the spotlight despite his inconsistency does not make him a valuable marketing commodity anymore.

Sad, IMHO...He should have packed up a while ago.

Being from MS, I think it's lame. Just go and retire. The last game he played it was so obvious he needed to retire judging how the Saints knocked his ass around.

brett hang it up. The media created his monster. nobody should report just wait till he actually shows up or doesn't. It is going to be the same sad story, brett is great for six weeks then his old body gives out and destroys his teams hopes. how much longer will vikings fans put up with this

Is it really Brent who is creating all this media frenzy or is it the media creating it due to a lack of other stories to cover? I believe the latter. In defense of Brent he has had the same story for the last couple months, if my ankle will allow me to play I will be back, if it doesn't I won't be back. It's not him going to every media outlet and covering this, it is the constant barrage of the media that keeps this going. We all know Brent will play if the ankle is good and he won't play much pre-season or practice a lot before the 1st game as he doesn't need to.

He has said nothing one way or another since his initial statement after last season. That "He's Retired Again" rumor from earlier this month was just speculation. The media loves to speculate on Favre--not sure why, maybe because people are sick of finding out their sports heroes are druggies, rapists, @$$holes, dog-fighting-promoters, murderers, carry concealed weapons into clubs, etc. etc., etc. "Will Grandpa play football this year" is at least different from your day-to-day sports news.

He WILL come back, though. Count on it.

I said it in the original thread awhile about him and I'll say it again....He just didn't want to go to training camp. Nothing new.

I do hope that he gets his butt kicked in that first game back.
