BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE
Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

XP on the laptop for compatability; Redhat on the box connecting to the internet; OS/2 on all my servers and the network sniffer machine.

i think the gerneal consensus overall is to wait. many drivers and applications are still not Vista compliant.
I currently have Vista RC2 on my PC that comes with MCE 2005 (it has both installed on different hard drives actually). I haven't played enough with the 2005 version to say how much better it is, but I like it. I use it to record shows and movies. I have to get the retail Vista though because microsoft crippled the damn thing after a certain date.
After spending a couple of hours in Comp USA recently, while waiting for a dinner reservation, I spent about an hour looking at the iMac section.
Those things are cool! I would not mind using OSX on one of the new MACINTEL machines, but the cost of buying an Apple computer is a bit steep for me. I know that if you compare specs on a Mac to an Intel box of the same caliber they are both the same, but still............I can't afford to shell out $1,1oo bucks for a new computer.

If you are thinking of switching to a MAC try Ubuntu first. I had a little bit of trouble with my Graphics card but that is because some of the high end cards are a Pain in the ass to get drivers for. I love the ease of install apps and no longer having to worry about Spyware or Virus.
