I had one a while back. I was on Ativan when I went in and was still about ready to freak. I didn't think I was claustrophobic... :dunno:

Wouldn't have been so bad if it didn't take so long.

Thanks! Thinks have taken what seems to be a turn for the better...I went and saw my pain doc, and he has ordered a shit-ton of tests, blood work, CTs, MRI, Ultrasound...Hopefully something will show and they can fix it...I am still in pretty constant pain, and my white cell count is still extremely elevated (around 23,000)..And now I have some wierd open wounds showing up all over my body..They start as smlal raised bumps, almost like a pimple, then jsut get bigger, and bigger, and they burst, and then I get about a dime sized hole in my skin where the bump started...They show mostly on my arms, but there are some on my chest/stomach and back..It's wierd stuff..The docs are all stumped for now...Hopefully the blood and pictures will shed some light..

You know, that is the part that pisses me off the most, I'm drugged outta my mind, I can barely type, and I still hurt...I don't really care about the pain right now, it's there, but very distant...But still there none-theless....I don't get it :hammersma Ah well, I guess I should just relax here on the couch, pop in Dark Side of the Moon on the DVD player, and enjoy :rolling:

Drew I'm really sorry to hear that you still hurt. That's the problem with those particular pain meds. They do dull the pain but they play more on your perception of the pain (basically making you high enough not to care that you hurt). There is some bad press with methadone because of it's history and the fact that it is very dangerous when mixed with alcohol/xanax/ and the variety other drugs people mix with it trying to get high. It is indeed the drug that was used to get heroin addicts off of heroin. But, it might be the truest pain reliever of all the narcotics. It also doesn't play with your head like the others. It is good enough that hospice uses it in their bone cancer patients. I would bet you could go on 10 mg of methadone twice a day and get off the other stuff. Ask your pain doc if he would be willing to consider it. And remember you can PM me anytime you need something or have a question. I really hope things turn around for you.

He has mentioned methadone, when I said I wanted off the Oxycontin, said we could either go with methadone, or the fentanyl patches, he decided to go with the fentanyl patches first, to see how those would work. Thanks for the advice, and I appreciate your offer.

Oxy is bad stuff and all that stuff is highly addictive. I have seen many a good man/woman on narcs for legit reasons get hooked. I think for pain and for addiction risks methadone would be a terrific choice for you. One good thing about methadone is that once they get the right dose for you they shouldnt have to adjust it. The way it's metabolized you don't gain a tolerance to it.

I noticed that I was starting to, so I led the doc know I was concerned, and we switched over to the fent patches..He said they are little lower on the addictive side, as with the patches, it is a small, steady stream released into your body, and you don't get the opiod rush when a large amounts hits your body, as you do with oral meds..
