Hey guys, I'm working my business plan up right now for what I like to think will be the ULTIMATE cigar shop. If you were building this shop from scratch what would you put in it? What are must haves? What would make you want to spend all your money? Why? I am interested in any and all submissions. I will keep you informed on the progress as I go? Some ideas so far are below.

-VIP members only lounge
-multiple walk in humidors
-exotic cars in the showroom
-on site cigar rollers
-poker tables

...

What are your thoughts??

Lots of "floor" ashtray's so you don't have to lean forward to reach a table astray. Place it right next to the leather chair and be comfy for the entire smoke.

Knowledgeable staff and friendly regulars are really all that matters to me.

Bonus points for:
Room to be comfortable
Selection
Good ventilation
Outdoor area
Regular event schedule
Participation in the local community
Luxury Accessories

Seriously though, exotic cars? What is the logic behind that? It's just going to take up a ton of space, and add nothing.

~ +1 on knowledgeable staff
~ Well-stocked humidor with none of that Altadis and General rubbish taking up space
~ Well-stocked bar with nice selection of single malts and wines
~ High-quality food service (meals, small bite-sized snacks, etc.)
~ Multiple rooms, some for sports, some for movies, some for music
~ Lounge area(s) with nice soft lighting and comfy chairs
~ Patio area with a nice view (of mountains, ocean, valleys, cityscape, whatever)

I prefer two or three lounge areas. For those who want to watch the games, for those who want to play games and for those who just want a quiet conversation.

Best wishes on creating your own cigar business. There are lots of ideas about what to have as essential before opening for your first day; but to me once you've opened the most essential item is a Welcome mat at your front door and proving that statement to your customers everyday.

-That stuff does well in some areas... we are a select group, not 100% of people think like us and have the same taste in cigars, you have to have some montecristo, romeo & julieta type stuff in the store... it sells...
~ Well-stocked bar with nice selection of single malts and wines
-As long as it does not turn the place into a bar... Make it known that it is for customers, and not for joe looking for a drink off the street. I know of a cigar lounge turned bar ---> out of business here in miami
~ High-quality food service (meals, small bite-sized snacks, etc.)
- Food might not be allowed to be sold at a tobacco establishment... It is nice to have near by places that delive /few minutes away
~ Multiple rooms, some for sports, some for movies, some for music
+1 If it can be had, it is a nice plus!

YES!! nothing better than a comfortable couch to plant your ass in for a few hours!
~ Patio area with a nice view (of mountains, ocean, valleys, cityscape, whatever)
That is a plus, especially for places with nice weather (not too hot, not too cold! If insects are a problem, a screened in area would be nice
Put some thoughts under what you wrote...

I don't think Exotic cars inside a show room would do anything for me as far as a cigar lounge goes... plus, think of the budget that takes up...

As far as your comments, Danilo, yes, some of them can be hard to negotiate from a legal, business, and logistical standpoint (what with food service laws and smoking, esp. here in Vegas, and with the need for smoke lounges to cater to a more varied customer base to keep profits flowing)––but hey, a guy can dream, right? After all, this is my ultimate cigar lounge (albeit in some dreamworld).... :cbig:
