I agree! Every NC brand has a "Habano", "Havana", "Cuban". How about some originality? I was out of the loop on NC's for the past 5 years myself. Every year I would pick up a box or two from a friend in Madrid and it would last me until the next year. But I found myself NOT wanting to hand out CC's to my friends who didn't appreciate them or would take a couple tokes and leave it. So I bought a few NC's for that purpose and now am finding some that I really love. Anyway my 2 cents....

Some people claim that the whole name confusion is partly because the old families that established those marcas in Cuba moved to the US after Castro and started up fresh using the same names.

As far as the plagiarism issue goes well some time back a few Cuban brands did file a case against them which they won at the initial stages. However, if I recall correctly, the decision was turned over by the Supreme Court which stated that since trade was barred with Cuba and the embargo refuses to recognise any thing of Cuban origin this was fair game.

Daniyal, I hear you on that, but you are talking about the actual names of the Marcas like "Montecristo" or "Cohiba". Different issue altogether.

Change of topic...I heard that the pope told pr. bush that he didn't agree with the embago against Cuba...Back to the subject...I enjoy some of those NC cigars w/CC names such as some Monte's (Vintage, etc.) and some Cohibas (XV, Black) it is going to be a sight to see when/if the embargo is lifted to figure out how this is going to be handled.
