Just a bit ago I packed a bowl using the "air gap" method. The smoke was remarkably different...

Cooler, more flavorful, stronger aroma on the patio; I think I've found my "go to" pack.

My son (9) isn't feeling well this morning so I had to take a personal day since the wife has tests at school. He's wrapped up in a blanket on the couch watching TV so I'm enjoying some PS Luxury Navy Flake in a Grabow lark playing video games (winter hobby). This is one of my favorite flake tobaccos with a smooth mellow sweetness ending with a ever so slight spice note.

Spring strong sweet tall green grass grow...

Lane Ole Shenandoah Barrel No. 76 in the Savinelli Series III 320
Hit me as just another mild vanilla aromatic at first, but something else underlying that I just can't put my finger on. Also, I swear I smelled floral notes in my clothes & beard afterward. Something that was not apparent during the smoke, not too intense, but it might be a bit much for my liking.
I'll try it again soon, though. Otherwise, it was a clean burning, easy smoking, mild blend. Not at all soupy or wet as some aros seem to get.

C&D Old Joe Krantz in my brand new Savinelli Aligator 310. I normally break in a pipe with PA but this pipe is special being my first new pipe (I don't count the Capri Basket pipe that was my first briar...it's a gurgling dottle leaving bastard). I figured OJK is the baccy of the month and a burley based blend so my new Savinelli gets the posh treatment. Great tin note that reminds me of a slightly sour wine (in a good way). I will have a few more bowls before posting an official review but initial impression is this is not just some dolled up PA. I can taste the nuttiness of the burley with just the slightest sweetness of the Virginia but the pepper of the Perique is definitely there.
