I've sampled at least a dozen different Gurkhas. None were awful. Some were OK; some were good, some were outstanding. None were competitive with other brands at MSRP. Most are decent value at cigarbid/CI/C.com-type pricing.
The brand just seems to inspire strong negative reactions due to extremely high MSRP, too many blends without having any enduring flagships, and tendency of Gurkha to engage in hyperbole which pisses some people off (Rolls Royce of Cigars, HMR @ $700 per stick, etc.)
They have a few that fill their niches very well:
Nepalese Warrior - stellar cameroon that can be had for ~$3 at online budget outfits
Titan - Wonderful, full flavor - no value at $30 msrp, but delicious and worth c.com/ci prices of $5-6
Micro Batch Liga TPB-1 -- Ridiculous name, but under the radar outstanding box-press corona corojo -- I'm well into my third box....don't tell anyone, but I haven't paid over $2 for one yet
HMR -- hard for me to imagine ever paying $20 for a cigar, much less $700. But, they do sell some of these and get much more value in the publicity of having one of the highest priced production sticks in the world.
I love the Micro Batch Liga TPB-1, I've recently burned through a 2nd box of them, and likewise haven't paid over 2$ a stick.

I've had a few Gurkhas with the only one I cared for being the Triple Ligero. I too dislike their approach to high MSRP and their ridiculous packaging. I've walked into a few B&Ms where the Gurkha boxes take up an entire shelf! I guess they think all the eye candy will make people buy their cigars - I don't care for it. I'll take the crappy packaging with the good cigars any day.

He was very good at the packaging aspect of it. He had a really nice release where the humidor was all shiny and whatnot. Brand-wise, it's like a Graycliff in its model.

There is a fundamental flaw with Gurkha, the owner, does not smoke cigars... I've had the misfortune of meeting this clown... he thinks his cigars are the best out there, talks bad about other things.... and does not even smoke.
They price a cigar at 15 bux (at the price, you can smoke... Fuente, Padron, Pepin, Pete Johnson, LFD and many other high quality cigars, instead of a piece of junk not worth 1/10th it's price...
But that's just me.
the only 2 Gurkha that are actually worth a shit, are the 2 that Abe (PDR) makes for them... and that's cause Abe will not put out a piece of shit just to make a buck.

They are mass produced, overpriced goat turds......for the most part. The Ninja line is decent ( at least the one I smoked). I guess what turns me off is that there is no exclusivity with them, and on every cigar site there are ten page listings of different Ghurka options. I'm partial to sticks that are more limited because by and large the quality is so much better across the board.

I heard good things about the Gurkha Beuty (excluding the price) and CI had a special on a 5 pack of Beuty's for $30 so I grabbed a pack to try out, considering that's normally the price of one. We'll see how it goes.

While I like the Park Ave, its nothing fancy really. I also had another that I liked in the beginning, but I do not know what it was. G5 is okay too. Seems to be a love it or hate it brand.

I am surprised I don't see this mentioned, but I would think they make way too many cigars. While I see some other company's catching up these days, I would have to say that there is a wider variety of Gurkha's for sale than anything else. It makes it rather confusing for the consumer, and lowers their quality as a whole because out of all those cigars, many are rather bland.

Does anyone know of a cigar company with more brands than them?

I have to tread lightly here. There was a B & M in Sacramento that I frequented every week for a year while I had a project there. The owner, wise and knowing, told me that the Gurkhas that show up online aren't necessary the same ones that they send to the B & M's. I have no proof of this but this guy had a huge selection of Gurkhas and they were certainly much better than what I was buying online. Also more expensive. Again, no idea if it's true.
