What do you normally drink when you smoke something you want to remember? Try not to differentiate from what your normal routine is so that you can get a decent grasp of what flavors you are picking up...just my thoughts.

Well,
I have two new bottles of scotch at the house; Glenmorangie Lasanta and Glenmorangie Sonnalta PX. I may go with the Sonnalta PX.....
The La Santa is my favorite Scotch right now--awesome!

I actually agree in theory with Kyle that a good sipping rum would comiment a T52 or Dirty rat well .. I'll have to try it out soon :)

NOTHING!!

Why impair your palate?? A strong drink with a cigar like a T52?...So many complexities that will totally (and literally!) get drowned with something as strong as Scotch! Good God, man!!

I know I am in the minority, but I love to savor every nuance that a fine cigar has to offer..Just MVHO :)

Russian Imperial Stout!!!!...

Not an option??

Ok, then Scotch fer sure with the T 52. If you have a nice sipping rum, that would be my suggestion for the Dirty Rat though.....some nice sweetness to off set the spice of the DR. A good rum goes amazingly well IMO with a Dirty Rat (and the T 52 as well for that matter).

And to your other question, speyside would be the Scotch of choice (for me at least) for the very reason of adding that hint of sweetness. They're typically sweeter Scotches than the Islays (which are more peat/smokey characteristics). I'm not talking "sugary" sweet, but more vanilla, nutty, caramel notes etc. (i.e. a nice Macallan 12 year etc.).
I'm with Kyle on this one....go with a Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout like "Silent Night" by Mother Earth Brewing.
