Interesting choice ... but voted fror the JL. I really like the flavor profile of the JL ... great tobacco taste.
I really like the shorts as well, but JLs are one of my faves. Not really complex but a mild smoke with lots of flavor and taste. Mild does not mean flavorless.

I dig the shorts but i have 2 boxes of JL's 98 and 99's. They age remarkably well. One of my favorites. So I'll take the JL's and age them for a few more years.

I was really surprised to see the Party winning this one. I love the Party shorts and probably have 30 still in my humi, but that JL#2 is superb. I agree you have to be in the right mood to smoke a JL...any JL as a matter of fact. With that said, the JL has that unique taste profile that really appeals to my palate. I do think the short has a more typical cubanesque flavor and maybe why it's more popular. I don't know but I will have to go with the minority on this one.

Agreed. The Patry shorts are very nice but the JL is more of an experience.

A very old thread :)

I would take the JL No.2. In about a year it will be ready to smoke and at 3 years, I'd say pretty close to smokeable. The Short on the other hand is a rare cigar that I find is ready to go almost right away. There isn't a huge difference between an 04 and 01; I've had open boxes at the same time and the difference was imperceptible.

Shorts on an everyday basis, the 2s are a little to floral for everyday. I do like the JLs for a nice change of pace, great cigar in the morning.
