I was away for the weened and missed the drama so not really sure what prompted this but 99% of the members here are good peoples every now and then the 1% does show up its best to ignore them. If we start taking offence to everything written on this board then well we'll just have a lotta keyboard warriors battling it out to get the last word in.

Never belonged to a cigar forum, didn't even know they existed. I was looking for good deals on cigars and Google found the Cigar Deal thread. Lurked for quite a while as I read the posts and tried to get a read on the soul of the forum. I've been a moderator on many boards, drama will never go away but it does need to be dealt with when it rears it's ugly head. Swiftly and fairly with as little fanfare as possible. The admins here need to be commended for doing just that.
Amen bill. I'm still a noob but the brotherhood here has definitely been on full display. For the longest time I would just grab a smoke over the counter at the gas station and I thought the smokes you would get at a B&M were just a status thing that I couldn't compete with untill another brother showed me the light here. A few bombs later and I know now that a) gas station? Really!?!?!:stickbeat and b) what brotherhood really means. I lurked for a while still feeling like I couldn't "compete" but have since learned this site has nothing to do with one upmanship at all. The biggest thing that stood out to me that made me feel like I didn't have to compete with everyone was on the thanksgiving thread by BrooksW who posted in his contest

It just made me think wow everyone really is here for the brotherhood and simply enjoying a good smoke and truley PIF. There have been other brothers who have put the same types of messages so to all of the brothers thank you. And a special thank you to the Admins that make this site what it is and opening my cigar world up.

Well, I always said I would never be part of a nerdy online forum because they're nerdy. Well, one of two things happened: I accepted that I'm a nerd or I found a forum that is full of genuine camaraderie and is not nerdy at all. Or, maybe I found the latter but I'm a nerd... (NOTE: after reading through, looks like I should fit in fine because I count just as well as everybody else here...)
Anyway, I have said this before and I'll say it again, I could not grasp the concept of how quick I was accepted here. I expected some sort of probationary period, fighting to fit in and figure out how I was expected to act on here. It didn't take long to realize that I could just come as I am.
I understand I am kind of abbrasive and defensive sometimes and, being the newb that I am, I am rather self-conscious. Please let me know immediately if it seems as if I'm even flirting with the idea of being offensive. I love the camaraderie here and absorb countless put-downs by being on it. But, I don't care, because I have found some awesome friends on here.
I am proud to be on BOTL, and I really hope that I've never said or done anything that may be deemed offensive.

I joined at the suggestion of another friend who heard from a friend.....you get the point. I thought I would get some information out of the deal and not really be able to contribute much to the discussion. I appreciate the fact that you allow us to come in as newbs and feel like we can express our opinions with out fear of being racked over the coals. I have become friends with some of the BOTL/SOTL who have shown kindness in many ways. I look forward to growing those friendships and starting new ones. I value the opinions offered but don’t feel bad if I have a different one and that is one of the many reasons I enjoy BOTL.
Amen Angry Bill. As someone who has lurked on many boards of many various interests over the years, this is the first one that I have actually participated in. That is a tribute the welcoming nature of this board.

Seems like a good time for folks to remember why we all came to here. A place for family, information and cigars. Respect is a way of life! I deal with so much drama from the crazy ladies at work, but I still show them respect.

great thread! before i joined here i noticed that many of the guys who i would meet at lounges who were particularly knowlageable and friendly would mention that they were members here. the air of brotherhood and passion was clear, and thats what drew me to this site. i'm sure that things will continue to move forward in that direction, soley based on the quality of so many members.
well I have not been a member for too long, but I joined to learn about cigars and talk to some people who share a common interest. So far, that is exactly what I have come to experience, but maybe I am being selective in the threads I read as I have not seen much drama. (Hopefully I am not the drama). Anyway, hope everything clears up because I hope many of you knowledgeable folks stay around.
