Bros,
I don't mean to be a little bitch but, does anyone else just get really down in the dumps after about a month or two of winter? I am just in a funk and cannot for the life of me snap out of it. Have been od'ing on Vitamin D and Bs, trying to get as much natural light as possible, exercise when I feel up to it. Work/home life suffers, makes wanting to do anything really hard...

What do you do that helps?

best,
B

Try to get out and do something. If your married do something with your wife and family. I have winter hobbies so that helps me. Do you snowboard or ski?

Use to snowboard quite a bit until I obliterated my arm on the mountain... Should probably get back on that horse.. Its just so expensive anymore even being a local with some of the best resorts in the world around me, its still over 100.00 a day...

Jan, Feb and the first of March are the worst here. It is dark all of the time and it gets really cold.....

Wouldn't you like to know?
I guess I am just too used to it. We get close to 6 months a year so it isn't much different then summer for us. Though I am excited that we will hit 40 today. Don't get above freezing much from sept to april

I also love the winter. But, I will concede that the endless days of no sun can where on you. I think some outdoor stimulation would be good for you. Go rent a snowmobile and have a blast!!

I don't really get down and out about winter, since I can't really call what we have "Winter", but I hate the time change. It really messes me up, when it starts getting dark at $:45 pm. I really hate it and feel I am being robbed of my daylight. Going to work and coming home, both in the dark, makes me sad.

Stand full time guard over the thermostat in the room with my humidor.

Not really, the holidays keep me happy through the first few weeks of winter, wrapping gifts, decorating and such. Now, through spring I will work on my fishing tackle for spring, usually take a weekend to clean the guns, walk around the house looking at stuff I would otherwise be too busy to inspect, this leads to several evening projects.

Doing some landscaping planning currently, last year when it got warm I dug up the flower beds and realized you do not do that unless you intend to plant something back, had a nice weed garden to take care of all summer long.

Good advice here. Get outside in the sun. You have a common problem that is actually called "SAD" (Seasonally Affected Depression, or something similar). Not trying to sound like a Nancy, but it can become serious if ignored. Try outdoor hobbies, if that doesn't work consider seeing a doctor for treatment options.

I too, suffer from seasonal depression. I'm just not my normal self during these months. Especially since my cigar smoking had decreased DRASTICALLY!

I took up welding to get me through the last few weeks of cold weather after football season ends... I fixed every metallic tool or implement that was cracked or broken, and then I started building random stuff. Most recently, I'm building a 22 ton hydraulic log splitter using about 75% recycled or scavenged parts.

I hear ya. I would get severely depressed in the winter and that's why I moved to Florida 8 months ago. The only recommendations I have is get as much UV as possible, exercise and eat healthy. Stay active and do things you enjoy. I know it sucks and it's a big reason I made such a drastic change. Good luck!

I hear ye Brandon. The inversion sucks too.

I have been back to the gym, lifting weights, helps.

Yesterday I went to the dog park, had a stick and just sat i the sun. In just a hoodie it was nice. I am going to take up snowshoeing next year. That will help me. Gotta get outdoors, even in the cold, we have some of the best outdoors in the nation.

I am the same way bro! Sucks the life otta me. I don't do it as of late...but tanning once a week used to help me a ton. That 15 mins of fake sun was awesome. It won't really tan you at once a week...but it is relaxing and energizing. Good luck!

I go with the tried and true method of a nice vacation somewhere warm (Mexico is a personal fave). I think I'm solar powered. Of course, the depression comes back when I return to the cold and gray so along with D's I take some 5-HTP and St John's Wort. I really need to move to a better climate!

I feel you. The cold and lack of light sucks. Best thing to do is to force yourself to workout and take b supps. A UV light might be helpful also.***********if all else fails alcohol and porn is a great backup to get through it all:stretchgr*****
