Avion was a huge disappointment this year.
Agreed...
Really? Compared to what?

I have to say this though. Once I made the decision to stop chasing the latest and greatest (a decision that was not by choice really), I found that the amount of cigars that disappointed me fell dramatically. I also found that that there wasn't a $20 difference in flavor or enjoyment between a $10 stick and a $30 stick, that I thought was so obviously there before.

But back on topic...everything Viaje 2011 was a waste (except the Tower 45th...which I never got to smoke).

Looks like some do agree with me after all re quesadilla lol oktoberfest and the wolfman. The illusione maduro was also garbage.

Haven't tried many ncc's this year, but beside the ones mentioned above, I'll put up the viaje holliday blend 2010 I got in feb, along with the s & b.

Ben those red banded cigars are only good once you age them. My boxes from 2006 are awesome - tastes like a hoyo epi esp 04.

Most everything else new this year. One dimensional, bitter and needed multiple touchups. I dunno, maybe I was spoiled when the Anarchy was released because IMO no new Tat has compared to date. That was and still is an incredible cigar!

I'm really surprised at some of the frequently named smokes in this thread!

Here are some notes based on customer response in my lounge:

TATUAJE - Kudos to Pete for introducing so many new lines this year!
Wolfman - Customers loved it and we sold out of our supply in 6 days
Fausto - One of the favorite new smokes on our shelves. Recommended to seasoned cigar smokers and not one complaint. I think this might be in the running for CA's Top 25.
Avion - If you like the Fausto you'll love the Avion.
Tatuaje La Casita Criolla - Most who tried gave it a big, "meh". Because of one-dimensional blend, you will either love or hate this cigar...no surprise it's on this list.

ILLUSIONE - Kudos to Dion for putting out new smokes too!
Maduro - Maybe they need some age. Most of my maduro smokers gave this one a try and have gone back to Kristoff, AF and even CAO Brazilias.
Candella - By nature this wrapper is going to appeal only to a very narrow audience. Try one with a strong IPA like Hop Devil or better yet with Shipyard XXXX IPA...awesome pairing.

In reading all the posts it looks like the bloom is off the Viaje rose. Never tried one so don't know.

Rev's Worst Cigar Of The Year - Without question the Java Mint. At first the idea seemed promising as a unique blend for infused cigar smokers. Thoughts of York Peppermint Patty and Ande's Thin Mints gave promise. However, one draw and I knew it was a miss. Cheap mint toothpaste and semi-sweet chocolate scented paper...blech!

For me it was Ghurka Ninja.......was given to me blind so I wouldn't know what it was and it was still an awful stick.
Totally, agree was not pleased with the Ninja line at all. One and done. I never know when a Gurkha will be good so I tend to try at least one of each mid to full.
