I like the soft bits, but they don't like me. Every time I have used one it make my jaw hurt like a sob! I just decided to man up and smoke without one..... My loss, I guess.....a utilitarian purchase
Put them on backwards. More comfortable that way...I like the soft bits, but they don't like me. Every time I have used one it make my jaw hurt like a sob! I just decided to man up and smoke without one..... My loss, I guess.....

Tried that too. I don't understand my problem with them as I smoke cigars too and clench them quite a bit. My best guess is that I try to clench too heavy of a pipe which creates extra leverage and the soft bit increases the diameter which multiplies the force.... This new Sherlock Holmes Baskerville is a very comfortable chin sitter and works great for clenching as it does not exert too much force.Put them on backwards. More comfortable that way...
So you're just starting out. NOTED.Just bought my first pipe and accessories. Ended up getting a Dr. Grabow pipe starter kit along with Dunhill Early Morning, Dunhill Nightcap, and GL Pease Virginia Cream.
I dont remember reading about the slippery slope in the user agreement when I signed up!
You're only 7 hours away from the coveted Motzek Strang. http://dein-tabak.de/Where are you guys getting your tobacco? I see and read about all these great blends. I have mostly Dunhill but would like to venture out a little more.
