I've only enjoyed Monte 2's from '06 and '09. Not sure about 2010/2011 though. I love the 2s.

Top 3 Montes? Mine would be #2, then #2, with a close third being #2. I'm not so concerned with age, I just love getting hands on some #2s.

Only other monte I've smoked enough of to have an opinion on is the 2010 LE Grand Edmundo and they were pretty good. I'm told 2010 wasn't the best LE class ever produced, but I enjoyed them. Only other Monte I'd like to try is an A. They look gooood.

Currently enjoying 06 #1s, 07 #2s & 09 #4s. Never cared for the Especiales. I go with Cohiba CEs instead. Montecristo is the only cigar where I'll pay more to have a certain vendor hand pick me a high quality box. Production is so variable that for me, it's well worth the extra cost.

I enjoy the Petit Edmundo almost as much as I have been the Monte 2's (got a few left from 03, a few from 06, and then 2009s and some 2010s). And I prefer both the PE & the 2 to the Monte Grand Edmundo 2010, which costs 3 times as much as the PE, and twice as much as the 2. That's just part of my disdain for LEs these days though...

I need to smoke some of the regular Edmundos to see if I'd like to pick a box up. Too much other stuff on the radar atm though.

So far 09 #2s have been great. Every other year from 07 forward has disappointed me. 08 Edmundos great.

I've had a couple "A"s from 2002, both of which were fabulous--mild but very flavorful. I've never really gotten into younger Montes, either bad luck or maybe I just don't care for them young, I don't know.

I did have one #4 that was about 5-years-old that was fantastic, the rest have been between "meh" and "good." Most #2s I've had have been "good," but not worth the price for me personally when there are so many "great" and even "excellent" cigars for the price. BTW, I like using "quotation marks."

^ Never had either of the Monte Especiales, but would like to try them as I love lanceros and petite lancero type cigars. I'm guessing production numbers on those is far less as well, so that might yield better QC compared to the #2 and #4.
