Today I realized I haven't been smoking as much as I used to. Yes, I've been busy... but not to the point where I can't sit down for a smoke. I haven't lost the enjoyment of a good cigar.

But, I realized... smoking cigars started as a social thing for me. Sitting down with a good friend or loved one, and enjoying each other's company along with some great smokes and usually good drinks. I've lost that here at school. I still smoke occasionally by myself. I've invited many people to come smoke with me... and they either declined or just didn't enjoy it as much as BOTLs do.

It's just making me not want to go out and smoke, especially with cold weather rolling in. I suffered through it last year. But, thus is life.

Anybody else go through the same thing?

Happens to most everyone. Unfortunately, I don't think there is anything you can do to reignite that flame. I tend to get a little seasonal cigar depression going in the winter. I don't like smoking in the cold and I don't really have a B&M close enough to get to on a regular basis.

Smoke if you feel like smoking.

Typically when I miss out on smoking due to no one to hang out with or it being too cold I typically have the opposite reaction.

It makes me want a cigar that much more!

It's the winter slow down, happens to everybody. I slow down during the winter look at it as your cigars are aging so they'll taste even better when spring rolls around

It's funny (not at you with you) because this exact thread pops up every year almost exactly at the same time. Take your time at getting back into cigars. You may only smoke 5-6 all winter and really not enjoy them that much. Just give it time and let them sleep.

Even here in Socal, the winter months make cigar smoking difficult. Plus cigars generally taste a bit different during winter...They are organic matter, and subject to the seasons.

Yep. Winter slow down. Don't have a warm comfy place to smoke since I normally do it on my porch. This leads me to not wanting to go out and brave the elements as often. Luckily I don't like in Michigan or Canada like some of you guys cause I'd never go out once winter hit!

Are you serious... I lived in KC, MO for 7 years. You can smoke outside for nearly the entire winter with getting cold...

Yes. I dislike temps that are much below 60. I relish the summer when it's 90+ with equivalent humidity .

Everyone is talking about slowing down for the winter... but I don't think that's your issue. It sounds to me you just don't have the same core group of cigar smoking friends at school. Maybe hit up a local cigar lounge? Start a cigar club?
Bingo.
I've dealt with smoking in the winter no problem It's the lack of social connection while smoking that's putting me off lately.
I've been looking into local lounges... right now it seems I'd only make that trip for a herf or something. I've also been looking into starting a club... we have a Pipe Smokers club - but no cigar club.

No, that's perfectly logical, good advice.
I've actually been working on branching out in terms of my "normal" friends as well. My personal life has been in shambles lately, so I've been trying to change things up in hopes of helping.

Cheer up man. I know you've had some rough times lately. But a Brother is always a Brother, whether they're an actual member, online or otherwise. All Brothers are bonded by the ability to appreciate the joys in life. Focus on that, you'll be alright. Winter smoking always slows us all down, nobody likes to freeze their arse off. But I hear you, I work in an industry that is murder for my social life at times. Sometimes what I look forward to all day is sitting on the porch, after the rest of the world has gone to bed, having a quality stick in silence and just reflecting on it all, or sometimes reflecting on nothing at all.
