You got that e-mail too huh . I registered and tried my hand at what I thought would be a relatively easy pick up...5 pk of Jameson Black Labels. Ended up getting into a bidding war with someone in the last few seconds. Since it resets 15 seconds when a bid is placed in the last 15 seconds I spend 10 of my 20 free bids trying to out do the guy before I realized the futility of it and gave up. You could literally spend all day going back and forth if it was something you really wanted. The potential is there to get some awesome deals, but realistically I don't see it happening unless you're very lucky or have a weekend to kill just sitting there and waiting for the right moment. I haven't done the math yet, but potentially you could spend just as much...probably more than on traditional auction sites. Probably won't be something I go back to.

This is one of those stupid auction sites that requires you to pay for "bids". Prices only go up a penny at a time....but they rake in a TON of cash from those that don't win the auction.

I will not participate in this site or any like it! Total scam.

They try to brush off the scam aspect by crediting the bids you made toward the purchase of the item. Basically they're locking you into buying it or losing the money you spent on the bids. Since it's the same people as CigarAuctioneer.com and Famous Smoke I'm kinda thinking I may want to steer away from them now as well...seems kinda like if they're resorting to this to make money I don't wanna support that :dunno:.

Yeah, I saw that too. That may seem like a great idea...but it is used to distract people away from the idea that it is a total scam.

I think it's a fun game type idea for a site. Personally, I wouldn't use it. It's way to easy for the site owners to game the system. They have no incentive to allow the sales to go through at pennies on the dollar. So they can just keep "bidding" with shill accounts or close the sale with shill winners.

I'm not calling their honesty into question or anything. It's just too gimmicky for my taste.

Right on Dan, I think I'm with you. Seems really shady to me as well.

Agree , when I was into NCs I realized that the best way to get cheap deals is to stay away from them :fencing:
Playing auctions for rare items makes sense but an auction with items frequently updated is just false , plus this penny auction is as stated above, just another scam .

Got an email from these guys today, opted out of any further communications. Can't stand these penny auction type scam sites, and I really don't understand how some people fall for the allure...
