Wow that is a great buy and a wonderful woman. Cant wait to see the pictures once you stock it.
Avallo or Aristrocrat are definitely nice options, but what is shipping to Sweden? Maybe worth the one time charge, though...yea, looks like a great wine fridge, but thermoelectric is the way to go. Watching the investment you make with your aged CC's, I certainly wouldn't allow the fluctuations in temp and humidity that a compressor will produce.
It can't get that warm in Sweden can it? For that money I would order an Avallo and be done with it. I would assume Vermont is similar to Sweden with temp, and I have my Avallo in the basement and it stays 64 all around. Accumonitor is the cats meow.
Best of luck, if you do keep it, post pics of the drawers you get made up.

24 is a little on the high side for me. That is 75F I am a little paranoid but my cigars won't ever see 70.this unit looks like it has some convenient features. no temp control? if you're keeping your house at 20-24 you should be a-ok.
good looking humi! worth cooking for the rest of the year, no doubt.
To be honest presentation is very important and right now I have my cigars in big tuppadors.Well you may get better humidification and a prettier cabinet the lack of temp control would have me thinking twice. First one was all about temp control and this one has none?

They are not known here in Europe but it seems most of you guys recommened them.Avallo or Aristrocrat are definitely nice options, but what is shipping to Sweden? Maybe worth the one time charge, though...
Have you ever had issues with your ccs when it hits 75? I would probably act diffrent if I had any issues with my storage, it just does not look good.24 is a little on the high side for me. That is 75F I am a little paranoid but my cigars won't ever see 70.

Same here, I havve 70rh beads and my storage is always between 67-68 rh.I prefer to keep my cigars closer to 67%, knowing that certain cigars need to be dry boxed before smoking. For me, the worst experience is a cigar that is too dry, so ther ya go.
Very well said!!I think there is a preference/substance discussion that underlies this. I PREFER for my cigars to be stored at 65/65 (or even slightly lower), because I've found that at that level I avoid tight draws and exploding wrappers when lighting up in the AZ heat.
However, cigars are much stronger than what our preferences may give them credit. I had a BHK the other day that had undergone some major "stress" and it still had all of the BHK flavors and burned like a champ. Was it perfect, or 100% up to par... no - but it also was practically abused... not like the temp was just off by 5 degrees.
Like you said Ben, I know some who have nice collections and store at a/c room temp, without problem. I think it really is a preference issue. There is optimum, and then there is perfectly acceptable, and the spread between the two may not be very large.
And when you receive cigars that HAVE been stored in the low 60's, and you put them in your 67% humi.....Blammo!Same here, I havve 70rh beads and my storage is always between 67-68 rh.
I am just like you, REALLy dont like it when cigars have been stored in low 60s
I totally agree. I think that putting money into full controls is a great way for protecting your investment. By time you are really filling a large humidor you could easily be talking $50 000 if you collect rare or aged cigars.Get full controls of humidity and temp. Anything short of that, just get giant blue plastic tupperware.

Dont forget cigars come from Cuba, not 65/65 over there and what I mean it alot of vintages have not been stored that way so I dont think one need to be scared.
Cuba may not be 65/65 but the storage whse and any decent store there is both humidity and temp controlled. They also fumigate often to control the beetles
Me personally no as my house is temp controlled and my basement is a constant 66. I have seen beetle infestations in Cuban cigars that only hit 65% and 22C. Mostly that is not in newer stock but some from as new as 04. Some brands such as Sancho Panza are thought to be more prone to beetles as everytime I buy an older box in Havana the Canadian Distributor always reminds me to double check for beetles. I agree that cigars are more durable then people sometimes give them credit for and agree that 65/65 is not the end all be all but truly do believe that you can tell the difference in cigars that have been aged for more then 10 years in a stable enviroment then one that fluctuates. Some guys like low 60's some high but I think that stability helps cigars develop better in the long run. From the pictures you tend to post I would guess your collection must be closing in on close to $100k so to spend 10% on storage to insure and protect them does not seem unreasonable.Have you ever had issues with your ccs when it hits 75? I would probably act diffrent if I had any issues with my storage, it just does not look good.
