I have an hour commute and have a cigar in my car on the way home every day. I carry a 5 cigar herf-a-dor with me and look forward every day to picking out the cigar for the ride home - great for relieving traffic stress and winding down after work! Bobkin ashtray is great. I also use Coachlight Candle Factory spray to keep my car smelling fresh.

Not exactly. You don't want all windows open, you just want one and preferably the driver's side open about an inch or so. The A/C or heat should be blowing out the floor with all other vents closed.

What you're trying to do is create negative air pressure. If done properly, every bit of smoke will be "exhausted" out the driver's side window because that is the airflow you've created. No smoke, or smell, remains in the car.

With multiple windows open you lose the negative air pressure and smoke will swirl around the cabin.
This worked beautifully. Thanks!!!

I'll have not seen or heard of the Bobkin. Thanks brothers.
Do a search. They're those plastic, hang on your door ash trays. Usually around $3-4.

Just remember whey you flik the ash, don't do it near the front (closer to the side mirror), do it as far back as you can in the window or you'll have a back seat full or ash. G1

bobkins are great for this, and as a rest if you need to stop and get out (gas, booze, quick pick up at the b&m). has anyone used the new canister jobs, think xikar makes one?

also, huge ups to the one window plus vent trick! i usually just roll with the stereo jacked and all four windows down. o)

This is first I haven't because it's new...... In a couple of years I will.
That's a horrible excuse. I smoked in my truck the day I bought it!

Nope, close up the toaster a little, you'll notice a big difference. Also, I can't get into that Xikar canister. The fact that it won't clip on the door is a no-go for me. As far as I'm concerned, the only thing it has going for it, is the fact that it's not cheap plastic like the bobkin.

I was thinking about the Xikar can actually. I think they'll assure that the cigar won't accidentally fall. I'm thinking a cupholder on the door and just put the xikar into the cupholder. G1

Yeah, that's trueish. What I don't like about that is as I get lower on the cigar, I wouldn't want to set it down in there. You'll have to dig down in there to get the 2nd half out!

Under 30mph, windows are all the way down. Above 30 the windows are cracked and the sunroof is open if it is nice out.

I don't particularly care if my car smells like smoke.

You may have just convinced me to try it:) The neg pressure theory makes sense.

I like to smoke in my car. I have a 13 month old at home so we try not to smoke in the house & when we do, we confine it to 1 room far away from her, so my 1 hr 15 min commute provides the perfect opportunity & is part of my VERY LITTLE down-time.

I tend to use the same negative air current method earlier described & this is the only time I deliberately ash my cigar consistently (AFTER having a pile of ash fall in my lap once).

I love the Xikar can that someone already mentioned but currently I am using a Studio Tobac plastic ashcan... it's made just like the cigarette car ashtrays that fit in your cupholder, except the ash-hole is bigger to allow for the size differentiation of cigar ash & it also includes a cigar rest on the side. They were FREE with purchase if you were at any of the stops on their tour last year, so I'm not sure if they're available for purchase but the stores that were included in the tour should more than likely have extras.

I do on those long drives, and I always have at least one window cracked. I love the neg pressure idea, I will have to give that a whirl.
