Are there any windows desktops being sold that contain strictly SSD?

Im looking for a top of the line desktop(i7 processor, 16+GB ram, etc) with 500GB minimum on SSD.

Thanks...

Depending on your price point. Check out Alienware. You can customize them for SSD and monster performance, but you'll pay for it.

Alienware by Dell are very nice. I have a laptop from them. Also look at Digital Storm, Origin PC, or Falcon Northwest if you want a really nice gaming computer. But they are all more expensive. If you aren't doing major gaming (Battlefield 3, high graphics needs FPSs, etc) then go with a less expensive Dell. Make sure you get a nice monitor though. IPS is more expensive but better quality.

Most manufactures now include the option to upgrade to an SSD drive. Make sure that you spec out a drive with a 6gb/sec transfer rate when you order. Beware of "Hybrid" drives that only have a SSD cache and conventional platters.

It should cost about $1 per GB of storage....500GB = $500.00 maybe a touch less.

I did the other day and all I could find was SSD/HD combos. Did I miss something?

Looks like Dell is offering SSD SRT (Smart Response Technology) read "hybrid". It's a swisher sweet that wants to be a puro.

Why such a large SSD? I was reading about HTPC's last night, and it seemed that 128gb SSD's are the 'sweet spot' for price vs storage right now. I'm about the least patient person you will ever meet about waiting for anything, but I still don't see the real practical use for your main drive to be that size. Someone earlier said SSD was about a buck a gig, so get 128 gigs, and then add in another TB or two HDD's and get tons of space, and all the fast boot times and shit.

Ssd's are great for read speeds but not so good for write speed. A 60-80 gig ssd to run your games and os off of would be best.

I upgraded my laptop to the Crucial M4 256gb ssd and kept the 750 hdd for storage. I run my games off the ssd and os. Knocked win7 boot time from 60s to 20s. Check out Toms Hardware for a good listing of Ssds.

And I second building your own or speccing and having a local shop order and build. If you go to one of the boutiques you get a lot better options but you definitely pay for it.

Thanks for all the feedback.

Why this way? It's for my dad, whom ever since he got his SSD Ultrabook has decided that standard HDs are not something he wants. And he is willing to pay for it.

I looked into building one, as mentioned its definitely doable and cost isn't bad. But sometimes it's better not to get too tied to something. Not sure I want him calling me everyday about computer questions thinking since I built it I must be the go to for all things computer. I try to help him from a distance if that makes sense.
So, that's why I was hoping you could help me find one prebuilt.
