So I have heard mixed things about aging the higher end Padron like the Anniversary or Family Reserve lines. Some say they don't age well because the tobacco is already age so much before they are sold and I've heard others say they age well for a few years. Which do you all think is correct? Any personal experience with this?

I absolutely love an aged 1926 #9 Maduro (1-1 1/2 years). Had one aged first and then had one right out of a "new" box at the B&M and I tasted a difference. JMO.

+1 for 1 year in age. The thing is with these is that the Padrons make them to be smoked right away(hence the aging before they are sold). But with another year or so these things are freaking outstanding. IMO further aging would not hurt them, just probably wouldn't do much.

Thanks for the feedback, kinda the answer I was expecting for the 64 and the 26 because I think their tobacco is only aged 4 and 5 years before rolled and sold

Family Reserve already has 10y.o. tobacco in it - they are already aged nicely!
But how does the Family Reserve hold up after one year, two, three, etc. will the Family Reserve lose anything after a couple years?

The reason I am asking is because I really like the Family Reserve 45 and 85 so I purchased some to have in my humi for special occasions and just the typical once in a while treat. I just want to make sure I don't save them for too long.

Valid point. I have no idea since I always buy fivers of FR and smoke them up. Never seen a need for a box of them - always readily available. If people bought them like Ligas it would be a different story...but Ligas ain't $20-30/stick.

I buy one box of Padron 64, 26, or FR at a time and smoke them within a few months (4 on average). They lose flavor with time in my experience.

I personally prefer the '64/'26/FR lines with less than 2-years of age. After that, they loose too much of the pepper/spice that I love.

But for the regular line and X000 series, the more age the better!

One of the mainstays for this brand is that they age very nicely and you can put years of rest on them....conversely they can be smoked right away as well. This is why they are so popular with most enthusiasts....taste, history and even pricing. The 2000 thru 6000 are really good with rest of a year on them as well.

I wouldn't say they don't age well, I'd say they don't change much. I have a box of 1964 Exclusivo Natural and a box of 1964 Exclusivo Maduro that are about two years old now and I've recently smoked one of each and didn't notice much if any of a change from ones I bought right off the shelf. That's the great thing about Padron though, almost everything is ready to smoke out of the box.

Had a 2-year-old '64 Imperial Natural today, it was just as good as fresh ones imvho. Guess the "cut off" might be later than I thought.

I have two that have at least 13yrs on them. I keep forgetting that I have until I rotate my singles and then I think that since I have had them this long I can wait a little longer. I keep waiting for that special occaision.
