  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I've got cold feet!

Not metaphorically, I literally have cold feet! It's freezing outside, and I have a blanket, small heater (best I can do here), etc., and I'm pretty much fine except for my feet (toes, really).

I have 2 pairs of warm socks, and boots on, but my toesies are still turning to ice! I know you can buy those disposable foot warmers that work via a chemical reaction with oxygen, and those are awesome but too expensive for daily use.

Anyone have any clever ideas or suggestions? Thanks!

at your next physical i'd def tell your doc about it, seems out of the ordinary to have cold toes with 2 pairs of warm socks, boots, a space heater and a blanket.

It is amazing how well that Smartwool works - I am also a fan of it.

baselayers are excellent. Socks are great in summer also.

All u need is Mickey boots by the us army. Discontinued by the army in the 90s. They're still available on eBay. Good to -30F. Make sure you do not wear heavy socks with them. Your feet will be HOT and WET. Trust me Nate they are a fix all for cold feet. I have fallen into 3 ft of water ice fishing (crossing streams) dumped them out and kept fishing with them wet and warm for another 12 hrs. They have 3" of merino inside 2 layers of rubber. 40 dollars on fleabay. They MUST say BETA boot company and have a US serial number listed on the inside of the boot. Or they're fake. Get the white ones not black. Buy one size smaller then your regular boot. I will gurantee my life on these boots.......

IF U GO THIS ROUTE GET PICS OF THE SERIAL NUMBERS......

Most of these socks/boots combo only work well if your moving around outside IMO. The jersey winters Up here can be brutal in January and February. Take it from me, whenever I have to work over night and I'm not moving around much my feet get freezing and that's with thick wool socks, red wing insulated boots and big rubber boots over them. I kinda just gotta bear with it and make sure I move around a lot.

If socks are the route you want to go I like the wigwam thick socks. They e toasty as are the smart wool. I believe they also have winter socks for low activity.

Cabelas makes these, I don't have them not can I use them because I have special red wing inserts already. They look promising but I believe they have a life expectancy of sorts.
