In my position, I get a lot of questions and messages. Some are simple questions, and some just comments on how they enjoy the cigar company I work for. Looking through those comments people tell me what they love about it, and it is almost always different. It got me thinking, what is the best part of smoking a cigar? So, I pose the question to my fellow cigar smokers.

It helps me relax, not making reference to the nicotine either. I used to constantly be doing things both during the work week and on my days off and it resulted in me never really getting rested or unwinding.

I light a cigar and I can sit down and feel occupied when really I am doing nothing at all. Good medicine

For me first - they simply taste great, no way I would smoke if they didn't taste great. Beyond that, there really is a cigar experience, it gives you a chance to slow down, realax and focus on something that is simple and gratifying. There is also a process and care that you have tend to, so it's not such an inactive experience that your attention falls away.

You can just sit, enjoy, relax and appreciate the time. For me it's time that I use to appreciate things and put things into perspective.

smoke, since prehistory, has been used for spiritual purposes, as it lifts slowly to the sky. either lifting spirits and conversations when sharing time, or lifting off stress and cares alone, a cigar as a meditation tool is just perfect. o)

The tobacco itself; I always find myself thinking about the climate, location, rain, sun, fermentation, time, and everything that went into creating the tobacco, and cigar that I'm smoking. One little difference and it could be an entirely different flavor.

If I am smoking with some friends, than the best part is usually the camaraderie. If I am by myself, its usually the combination of the taste/overall experience of a specific cigar and usually the added stress relief, relaxation.

It forces me to relax. Like everyone, I work a ton of hours and I am always running around. When I light up a nice cigar, I know I have at least an hour to sit and unwind. I usually sit with friends and maybe a glass of scotch and just shoot the sh*t.

I love these responses, and I feel all of them. Sometimes, it is just the cigar, or how finely crafted it is, and the people I am with. For me, depends on when I am smoking it. Like at a shop, everything goes away with social structure. Gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, and political views go right out the window and they no longer matter. Sometimes it is how it makes everything else enjoyable. Like when I am smoking a potential Cremo (like a prototype), I sit with the cigar and smoke it. Other times, I have it with company, or while reading (or watching TV). Seeing different angles of the experience. Keep the answers coming. I like seeing different aspects of the cigar smoking experience, because I might find a new way to enjoy a smoke (and anyone reading this as well).

I have to say that every sentiment voiced so far is the same for me at some time. For me definetly a time to slow down and sit still. I asked some guys I follow on Instagram how they drive and smoke sticks because for me that takes away from the enjoyment of the smoke. I can't imagine my smoke being ruined by a text driver holding up the left lane or sitting there at a green light. The process from selecting the smoke to the last puff means everything is right with the world for that amount of time. I remember smoking at a bar before the big ban went into place. And during my smoke a woman came over to me and said something to the effect of : "you make smoking cigars look very attractive. I watched you cut it and light it and everything you did was so deliberate but effortless. I had no idea smoking cigars had an art to it." For me it's my time to think about whatever and just sit still and watch the smoke rise.

Personally, I cannot have a cigar and drive at the same time either. Though if it was stop and go, and I had an hour to kill... I might.

Would make it a lot better!

That's my favorite time for tat PCR's and other small sticks
Grab a big stick and smoke it while you're running errands. You'll find yourself
wondering where the time went! :)

I actually find myself enjoy the hunt, looking for a certain cigar/cigars, and gifting them to my friends more enjoyable than smoking. I have three kids (young), A dog, A bird, and a wife, so finding time to smoke beside a shorty at work or a cigar while i mow the little league fields is pretty hard. One day when my life calms down ill sit back and enjoy my smokes I've collected.

Sometimes it's about relaxation, sometimes it's about socialization, sometimes it's just really about the enjoyment of the leaf, sometimes it's about reflection, sometimes it's all of those things at the same time.
