I was just sitting there the other day, smoking my third cigar. And a thought hit me, have i smoked to much today. If i smoked another one would that be to much. How long should i wait between smokes. All of these questions were running through my mind. Also, how many puffs should you take in a minute or does it matter? So a way to sum up all of these questions, is how much is too much? or is there too much?

I think you're doing it wrong, I smoke cigars to not stress out about things.

No one is going to be able to tell you how much is too much, go by your gut.

Too much is whatever you think it is. Some people will say 1 a day, others will tell you 10 a day. It is subjective in my opinion. Look at guys like Winston Churchill and Groucho Marx, they smoked non-stop and lived to a very old age. When you think you have hit too much, you probably have.

^ This. If you are concerned, then cut back and see how you feel. The big difference between cigars and cigarettes aside from the obvious for me is indulgence rather than compulsion. I want it but I don't need it. Of course YMMV and if you are smoking 10 a day this doesn't apply quite as neatly. I've had evenings where 3 was par for the course, but those are more and more rare now that my taste has outgrown my ability to afford such nights on the regular.

With puff per minute, etc., I just back off if it seems like its getting too warm or the profile is shifting for the worse. The hotter the smoke, the less your palate can discern. Use your tastebuds as your indicator.

I think you will know when you cross over the too much line. I have happily smoked 3 in a day and I have also not felt like smoking for a couple days after only smoking one the previous. Just depends

Stop when you can't taste 'em anymore!

For me enough is no more than 2-3/week and rarely more than 1 in a day. That said, I've had as many as 5 in a day (BOTL Herf 2011, baby!), and I know plenty of guys around here who smoke every day and love it. At the end of the day, do what feels right.

I've had days where I have had 8-10 cigars, but well spaced out. Typically though 3 is the most I will actually enjoy in a sitting. Anything after that and I might as well be smoking Gurkhas since I don't taste them anyways

Thanks for all of the responses. But I think it was misunderstood, I don't smoke for stress. That's a waste of a great cigar, because all your thinking about is your stress. I smoke for the cigar, and the flavors, and aroma. But is there a way not to get dizzy, it seems when I just started I never got dizzy, but now even 1 sometimes will make me dizzy.

Smoke it slower and have a drink with it like a bottle of coke. Sugar helps counter act the effect a little.

Usually to much for me is when my colon decides to go spastic...

i'm with Brent here. I smoke about 3 cigars a day. I used to be a one a day smoker but three is now the norm. My point is you'll know when you've had enough.

I usually smoke 1 a day, I have smoked 3 in a day just because I was enjoying them; that being said, I've smoke 1/2 of one and put it down just because I wasn't enjoying it at the time.

So as long as you're enjoying 'em, keep smoking 'em

Are you smoking medium to full bodies more than you were when you started? Try making sure you've eaten before smoking a heavy stick.
