cant emphasize this part enough...
the pistol is just one of the tools necessary for CCW... I see a lot of people "forget" or cheap out on the other necessary items... which is a huge mistake in my opinion...
a $19 "universal" uncle mikes holster (or equivalent) is not the answer for CCW... make sure you get something that is specifically built for your pistol.. allows for easy access to the gun (I prefer high ride pancake holsters for example).. something that will keep the weapon secure (dont want it falling out or getting loose when the fight is on).. and something that will last (you need to get used to what you are using.. and use it over a long period of time to become proficient.. you dont want to be changing/replacing your holster every six months)..
I prefer kramer horsehide scabbards.. Ive got one for my G19 that I bought back in 2005 that looks as new as the day I bought it.. and still functions perfectly.. the downside is kramer can be a bit spendy..
I would recommend either a double stitched, thick leather from one of the prominent non-custom manufacturers like galco, safariland, don hume, etc... or something in kydex from the same companies.. (if youre going to be getting dirty, sweaty, exposing the weapon to extreme temps, a lot of moisture, etc.. its hard to beat kydex... if youre going to be wearing the gun all day long, and not rolling around in the dirt.. its hard to beat the comfort of leather.. IMHO)..
what I would NOT recommend is anything nylon for a CCW pistol.. its cheaper... but its not worth the cost savings (again, IMHO)..
