Went to the gun store after posting in the other thread and took my time looking around. I was surprised at the number of handguns in my price range at the shop. (Firepower, Matthews NC) After looking at quite a few guns, I settled on a 9 mm Taurus PT 111 Millennium G2. It was $340.00 and has a double stack 12 round clip.

It felt good in my hand, the sites were easy for these old eyes to see and it's pretty lite.

Here's a pic:

Flyboy - Now your talking a language I can understand from this side of the pond!

Anyway according to the Hollywood movies i thought all guns come with unlimited bullets in a magazine. Or is that only the a team, Steven Seagal and Bruce William films ???

Nice gun by the way :)

Judging by the almost universal "out of stock" symbols at the online dealers I would have wrongly guesses your visit to the shop would have yielded nothing but empty shelves. Congrats on the acquisition.

Also according to Hollywood, automatic weapons will never hit you but you can take out as many bag guys as you want with one shot at 200 feet.

Pick up a good holster
cant emphasize this part enough...

the pistol is just one of the tools necessary for CCW... I see a lot of people "forget" or cheap out on the other necessary items... which is a huge mistake in my opinion...

a $19 "universal" uncle mikes holster (or equivalent) is not the answer for CCW... make sure you get something that is specifically built for your pistol.. allows for easy access to the gun (I prefer high ride pancake holsters for example).. something that will keep the weapon secure (dont want it falling out or getting loose when the fight is on).. and something that will last (you need to get used to what you are using.. and use it over a long period of time to become proficient.. you dont want to be changing/replacing your holster every six months)..

I prefer kramer horsehide scabbards.. Ive got one for my G19 that I bought back in 2005 that looks as new as the day I bought it.. and still functions perfectly.. the downside is kramer can be a bit spendy..

I would recommend either a double stitched, thick leather from one of the prominent non-custom manufacturers like galco, safariland, don hume, etc... or something in kydex from the same companies.. (if youre going to be getting dirty, sweaty, exposing the weapon to extreme temps, a lot of moisture, etc.. its hard to beat kydex... if youre going to be wearing the gun all day long, and not rolling around in the dirt.. its hard to beat the comfort of leather.. IMHO)..

what I would NOT recommend is anything nylon for a CCW pistol.. its cheaper... but its not worth the cost savings (again, IMHO)..

I have a "bullet holding thingy"
Lol ok... Also when you get your gun holding watchamajigger make sure you get some graphite artists pencils and practice drawing your firearm. I see soooooo many hotshots that never practice drawing.

Accuracy is nothing if u can't get it out quickly.

This. Also, buy a GOOD GUN BELT. Your usual belts will not work, trust me.

If you need any help seeking out a holster, post up. I like gear a little bit too much, so I can point you somewhere depending on what you desire.

yup... a gun belt is an absolute... normal belts will curl and/or bow under the weight of the pistol.. will be uncomfortable.. and will also make it a whole lot harder to conceal the weapon (the gun will lean away from the body more).. .

for belts, I again, prefer kramer horsehide..

but there are plenty of decent options out there..

my kramer is a 1 1/4" "dress" belt that works fine for suits, business casual wear, etc.. fits the loops on any pants I want to wear, etc..

Ive also got a brown galco belt and a black safariland belt.. both 1 1/2" that work well in casual clothes, blue jeans, etc.. the safariland belt has a kydex insert in it that makes it extremely rigid....

Ive had all three belts for more than 10 years.. and theyre all still going strong...

Ive also got a couple of nylon "riggers" belts that have kydex inserts in them.. but those arent really suitable (IMHO) for street wear CONUS unless you are going the untucked shirt route.. they stand out like a turd in a punch bowl otherwise... but they are excellent for "tactical" situations.. or for wear in very rural/rugged environments where no one would think twice about what kind of belt you are wearing (hiking, working out on the farm, etc..etc..)...

and 2x cases of ammo...

and a quality pouch for your spare mag(s)

and a high lumen pocket flashlight...

and a quality folding knife with clip...

possibly some new clothes (something that lends itself to CCW)..

a good set of sunglasses (oakley, or revision is preferred)...

only after you buy all of that will you be tacti-cool :)

It's all about the fixed blade now, Dave. Duhhhhhhh. Aren't you hip to all the current trends*?

*That said, while it is a current trend... I still love my fixed blades. Though I recognize they're not legal to carry in some states.

I was carrying fixed blade, before fixed blade was cool :) (Im old like that...)

I (along with another guy) designed this knife back in 2004... I auctioned off #1 in 2005 to support a kid that was undergoing cancer treatments.. But I still have another one that I carry as a "daily"...

Terrible write up on Pats website lol.. but it gets the point across on the design intent :)
