So Ive watched the fight 3 times and my thought are I'm so pissed. Not at silva losing but how he has dissrespected the sport in doing so. Hats off to and congratulations to Wiedman, fought a solid fight and his future title defences will prove wether his is the real deal or not. I see it as Silva didn't respect wiedman, those are the only times he plays around like that, figured he play with him for first 2 rounds and then just finish him. Glad the cocky guy lost but if he was tired of fighting(post fight interview) why just not retire and vacate the belt rather than put on that disrespectful performance. Fight forums are going crazy calling it fixed, silva threw the fight etc. here are my thoughts

UFC/Dana white fixed the fight: Makes no sense, If Silva wins easily then it's the perfect set up for Silva/Jones superfight. 2 undefeated champions facing each other the PPV would be HUGE!, sure the fight could still happen but tens of millions of dollars went out the door with Silva losing.

Silva threw the fight cause he was tired of being champ: Silva's post fight comments clearly show that he was tired of dealing up with all the demands of being UFC champion but I think Silva's EGO will never let him throw a fight. His stupid antics are typical display of Silva's arrogance "look i can act like a fool and still win." It almost bit him in the first sonnen fight when silva underestimated sonned and look how Silva destroyed him in the remach to show the world first fight was a fluke.

Silva threw the fight cause he did want to fight Jones: This probably most plausable. People sometimes forget Silva is 38 years old and Jones (25). Silva hasn't had to really work in a fight for 8 yrs and he'd have to work his ass off to face jones. But i go back to Silvas huge EGO i don't think its in him.

So i guess in closing i think Silva didn't respect Wiedman and his 10 fight record. His original plan was dance around, play games. Win the fight then retire avoiding the Jones Superfight thus remaining undefeated. Wiedman caught silva and changed that plan. In my opinion the UFC should talk silva into retiring or release him from his contract for dissrespecting the sport and orginazation. People think Silva put huge money against himself for a payday, or that the UFC was in on this. Only way to squash that talk is to toss him out. The biggest loser is actually Wiedman cause no one sees him as legitimate champion and perhaps never will.

His post fight interview KILLED it for me. I felt like I was jipped and he didn't care at all that he lost and it was more of a relief.

Your right about Wiedman... there isn't and never will be total respect for that win. I just wish he landed a couple more of those hits when Silva was out.

Yeah I was happy to see him get him on the button and knock him out. So disrespectful to the sport as a whole, underestimate people long enough and it will bite you int he ass.

GoingPostal - What MMA forums do you frequent? I've been pretty active for many years - maybe our paths have crossed.

Anyway, while I agree with your sentiment, let's not forget that this is Silva's persona. He's always been cocky, disrespectful to his opponents, etc - the difference is that Weidman didn't allow that to get into his head as so many others have in the past. I give Weidman much respect for the victory - he did what no other man has ever done and he IS the Middleweight Champion.

With that said, I think too many people are putting stock into what Anderson said after the fight - after the first time he had been knocked out cold in his career. With that adrenaline, dealing with a concussion and the effects of being knocked-out for the first time, a guy doesn't speak "coherently". There is no doubt in my mind that we will see an immediate Weidman/Anderson rematch and I think we'll see Anderson come out with a vengeance.

Not active on any forums but i visit mmaplayground, mmajunkie, and the ufc forums. Your probably right on the rematch cause that is the only fight that makes sense. Silva is a cocky egomaniac and all this talk of him throwing the fight will get to him.

Huge Silva Fan so...

Undefeated since UFC 64? Id have a ego problem too lol !

Seriously, the Man just should hang up the gloves ...

Or do freakshow 7 on 1 ala Gladiator fights - that would be badass.

I felt (and still feel) jipped after watching that fight (several times). Never been a huge Silva fan, but his record spoke for itself. I don't think I'd go as far as saying it was fixed though. I agree that Silva seemed relived to not have to defend the belt anymore. Even after this debacle, I still want to see a Silva/Jones fight too...

He made more than that, those numbers are what the UFC has to legally disclose to the Athletic commision. He got both fight of the night and knockout bonus so that's an extra 20 G's. who knows what other undisclosed bonuses he recieved sure there some sort of bonus for being a UFC champion

Man, have some Anderson hate issues do we? It is how he has always fought. I did not see anyone here posting when he did this to Stephan Bonnar, or any of his other opponents. It is part of his style. If he can get you to rush in because he has his hands down he can counter strike. He got caught ONCE. If you are taking his post fight talk seriously you must never have seen an Anderson interview. Win or lose he LOVES to mess with the media. As far as releasing him from his contract, he is the GREATEST EVER. Not going to happen, they make more money on him than any other fighter on the roster. Not sure why he would have signed a 10 fight contract JUST before this fight if he was going to retire.

My point was compared to some of the undercard guys. Just his base fight salary and victory bonus is garbage compared to guys who's fight wasn't on the PPV

Main event fighters get a % of the PPV buys. He made WAY more than 48k.

I understand that...and that's fine, I'm not explaining myself too well I guess.

He also got 50k for KO of the night.
I guess I'm trying to say is look at his BASE pay and victory bonus compared to everyone else's. Not considering the final pay. His base was less than some of the undercards. His victory bonus was less than undercards. You would think those would be higher considering he was the #1 contender fighting in the main event.
