I have the beginnings of a decent collection of bands from different cigars I have smoked over the years, and I am looking for an artsy/crafty way to display them.

Are there any brothers out there that have saved a lot of bands and found a creative way to display them?

I was thinking of using some sort of strong adhesive and glue them to my coolidor, but I am not sure what kind of glue to use on the plastic.

I would love to hear some examples of what others have done and maybe see some pics

I've been holding on to them for about a year. I know guys on here have asked for bands in the past for various reasons and I've been saving them for that next occasion. I'm not artistic enough to do anything with them myself haha

I don't know if I would put them on a coolidor just because I don't think of a coolidor as a display piece. If you have a desktop humidor they might look nice on it. Just my 2 cents.

I just save them in old B&M bags... Eventually I'll do something cool, but I figure I'll fill a few more bags so I can do something of scale.

If I were adhering them to a coolidor, I'd look at a spray adhesive and something to use as a sealant. The issue wouldn't be holding them down, because any kind of adhesive or epoxy would work, but rather keeping them from looking tacky as they peel or wear over time. Maybe just a plastic safe spray clear to finish it. I know Krylon makes plastic safe aerosol paints but I don't know if they make a clear coat... Possibly something made for model cars. Just my .02.

I've been thinking of doing something with my bands too, I've seen table tops, and humidors done with them in the past, I still haven't figured out what I want to do just yet, but I'll prolly do something soon. As far as glue goes, contact cement would probably be the best glue to use, it doesn't dry overly fast and is very sticky. I agree to use some sort of clear coat to protect them.

Some kind of ashtray would look cool. If you could get a stock ashtray somewhere and cover it with the bands and seal it with something so that they wouldn't burn. Just thinking out loud since I have been collecting mine for a while as well.

I like this idea. I'm going to do some more brainstorming on this one, thanks!

Let me know how it goes if you pursue it, I may do the same when I get enough different bands.

Get a crystal ash tray, and adhere them to the underside of it so they show through, then cover the bottom with a layer of felt to seal the deal... just an idea. Would need a crystal clear adhesive that won't whiten or yellow as it dries/ages, but it's an easier task than finding a coating that won't scorch or burn if you put them on the inside of the tray...

EDIT: Or you could get a stinky tray and adhere them to the outside then clear...

Collecting the bands for these frames pushes me to get outside my comfort zone to try new smokes.

Spreading hate and discontent since 2005.

That is awesome! I've seen where guys have made a collage of bands in a frame and while it looks much easier than what you did here, it's not that attractive. How did you lay it out and what adhesive was used?

Amazing.
