I can't live In AZ and work in ND. In a way it's beyond my means to take that much time off and do nothing beneficial.

I did 100% of my studying and preparing for the PMP while sitting in a connex box in Afghanistan... You need 4 hours at an approved testing center (there will be several in both AZ and ND to choose from...)... Everything else can be done from anywhere you can read a book and/or get online... To include taking the necessary prep courses...

I knocked out an MBA while traveling all over the globe... The first couple of years I worked on it I was overseas 120-150 days a year...

You can do either (or both) from anywhere these days...

And if you shop around.. You can do it very affordably.. And still pick up a degree from a decent, respectable university...

Yep, I gotcha bro, but the PMP doesn't take long from what I understand. I think the issue is getting the work experience to go with it. There are options for what you are seeking that will allow you to do both as you want. Just gotta seek them out. Looks like you are making a good start here. ;)

Realistically... You can knock the PMP out in 90 days (IMO) if you're even just a little bit smart.. And willing to buckle down and study your butt off (and take classes) for about an hour a day (every day)..

So if I try real hard, I don't have to live with Doug, and stay warm in AZ!!!

Let me get to a laptop (in the AM) and I'll shoot you a PM.. I think I can help you with a 90 day plan to obtain the PMP.., if you've got about 100 hours.. And about $800 to burn over the next 3 months... You too can be a PiMP :)

I'll also send you some info on some decent degree programs in project management that you might be interested in...

The pmp material isn't difficult, it just covers a lot of ground and most of it is really dry and boring. Supplemental study material helps a lot, I think they updated the material recently so make sure you get stuff that covers the new topics as well (I think they are on version 5 of the pmbok)
