Conceal Carry Handguns

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! I am impatiently waiting the arrival (any day now) of my conceal carry permit here in NC. I am looking for some insight into what kind of handguns you guys carry and the types of holsters you use. I have no biases and am not trying to start any arguments here. Looking for opinions and "porn" of what you guys are carrying. I own a Ruger Security 6 .357 and that is my only handgun. Obviously, not a conceal carry weapon with a 6" barrel. Also, if you don't mind, throw some price points around. Thanks guys and Happy New Year!

I carry an M&P FS 9mm in a JM Custom Kydex AIWB holster.

I own a Ruger Security 6 .357 and that is my only handgun. Obviously, not a conceal carry weapon with a 6" barrel.

Well, you certainly could carry it. But, is it a gun you feel you could effectively exchange rounds with another armed individual with? If yes, a good quality holster will make it ready to go.
I feel perfectly comfortable carrying a gun with a 5" barrel. The only reason I don't is because the gun is configured for competition use, and not deemed worthy of carrying for my preferences.

Price points on guns or holsters?

There's way too many variables for me to answer that. There's $200 guns and $5 holsters. There's guns that cost several thousand dollars that people carry in several hundred dollar leather rigs.

What's your budget? What are you looking for in a gun? What do you have experience with? How do you anticipate to carry the gun? Do you have any special requirements for your equipment?

This is what my everyday carry looks like. Easily concealed with a shirt that isn't skin tight (and I mean exactly that. Even slim fit shirts hide it).

Im with alex on this one, for my size and build I am able to carry a FS concealed (Glock 22 or M&P 40) and it works very well. I can carry in 23 states and in a few months after we finally clear it and my license comes through I plan on carrying the same gun here.

I comes down to what you are comfortable with and can shoot reliably and consistently.

Perfect conceal carry for me is either my HK P7M8 or my Kimber CDPIi compact. Both have custom rigs for great concealed carry, as well as ease of draw. And I added alligator hide to the front strap on both.

I'm a pretty small framed guy. I have a hard time concealing my ppk unless i have a sweatshirt or coat on. But i can shoot it pretty well and controlled.

It takes almost zero more effort to conceal a full size gun than a sub compact. Most people go for tiny pistols because they just want something on board, and disregard how effectively than can shoot it. I own one subcompact, an M&P Shield, for very specific circumstances. I have yet to need to carry it.

Oh I agree 100% on the ease of concealing a subcompact. I'm honestly really accurate with the 26. I can hit a 2x2 steel plate on average 6 out of 12 times with the Pearce grip extension from 50yrds which you really shouldn't have to be shooting in self defense from that far away so when I come into 10yds I'm pretty spot on. Idk if you were referring to me on the part where you said people disregard how effectively you can shoot it. I agree with that also if someone just gets a little .380 or even a 26 for that matter.

Whatever you carry you should be confident in your ability to put a shot where you want when you need to (hopefully never needing to, but just in case)

Ruger LCR or the same model from S&W the Bodyguard both light, small, 38's that are easily concealed with great stopping power.

pSig P938 sas ($700ish) with a Garret Industries IWB ($80). I also carry a G23 ($410ish when I got it) with a Comptac Minotaur holster IWB ($110 I think). I have a horsehide belt from thebeltman.net with velcro sewn on the inside. My holsters have velcro clips so I can truck a shirt in and not show a damn thing to the world. With the flush mounted mag in my 938 I can wear a fitted button down tucked in and no one knows that I have a piece on me. I wore it all day yesterday at a friend's house and no one had any idea.

I am built with a small waist and broad shoulders. I could hide pretty much anything with just a tshirt. My Sig is just so comfortable and so much lighter than the G23.

Don't own a gun and have never been interested in having one. Don't have any objections to it either. Have not searched for guns or the like on the internet.

BUT, 4 minutes after I opened this thread, my yahoo advertisements included "concealed carry" stuff. Kinda crazy.

Kimber ultra crimson carry, 3" barrel in a ( I know this is where I will get in trouble) N82 conceal holster. I have a Springfield XDS that I just got back from the factory recall that I really want to start carrying. I still need to get it out and really get used to it so I can be able to carry it comfortably. I must agree with everyone that says carry what you know and are comfortable with.

Glock 19 in a kydex IWB holster made by a friend. I wear a SOE EDC belt most days. Works out well. No one ever seems to notice. Wore it to the HERF in case Anthony tried to resist my advances. But he's easy so I didn't need it.

Are you happy with the shield? A few other guys from the FD I work at say it works well for them as a CC. I'm going to rent it this week for as test drive.
