Oh by no way was I trying to sound upset. I just said it on page two. Haha, just my dorm room is tiny, and make you stay in them Freshman year. For the time being something that could hold roughly 100 cigars, and be the same size would be great. That small 6 bottle one is perfect. If I can remove all the racks my humidor I believe could actually fit inside it. What I meant by gifted by big quarters, is that some colleges have bigger rooms. Baylor isn't that lucky we just have average dorm rooms. At University of Texas where my brother is at, he had a huge dorm room.

I ordered it, and the guy is in Austin actually so that helps. I just need two shelves and I am good to go.

Thanks for all the help guys. Just sad I can't use my new humidor.
Don't be sad, you've moved to bigger and better things. :cbig: smoke that siglo when you get your new vinotemp.

The little electro coolers that plug into your car ligher are also thermoelectric and will work well. Most do not have a thermostat, but you can get AC power adaptors and they do work.
That is a great idea for a small footprint solution in a limited space like a freshman dorm room. Might want to beef up the insulation/seal some. 12VDC temperature control units are on eBay for something like $25. If you knew what you were doing (or can find someone who does) you could get the individual thermoelectric pads and really reduce the amount of space taken. Next, get a solar cell panel, storage batteries...... Heck, you might eventually be able to take it as an educational tax deduction.:cjump:

I don't really have a problem with the temperature levels rising.. knock on wood my sticks are presently beetle free but I would definitely make do with what I have and get a proper vino temp like most guys have suggested once you move out of the dorm.

Don't know what your setup is like but during my freshmen year I had apartment style quarters with a fridge etc.. if you have one just pop in the humi else you can keep rotating the ice pucks.

Well, the small vinotemp was only 30 bucks. I'm actually picking it up because he is in Austin which I didn't know. I think a vinotemp this small will work fine seeing how I only ever really have 75-85 cigars at a time.

Mine is small. :sadpace:

I could have room if I didn't have some of my working equipment, and my big TV.

I will have a bigger vinotemp in a year or two, and when I do I will link this thread to the new post showing it off.

Hello,
I was all set to purchase a Vinotemp, but I came across a number of these negative postings on failures and no warranty support from vendor or Target.

(It says I can't post weblinks so you will have to seach Target's web site to see what I mean.)

Have yours been holding up or do they fail within two years?? Thanks,

-Chip-

Well, I got my Vinotemp in Feb of 07, so I guess I've had mine just barely over two years. It's still working absolutely flawlessly.

Of course, I have mine run through an external temp controller (Ranco ETC) so it doesn't run constantly (probably only kicks on a few times an hour in the heat of summer, and rarely at all in the winter), therefor I doubt there's an actual two years of running time on it.

My wife, on the other hand, has two of the exact same units running as bona fide wine coolers, and they run 24/7. She got them shortly after I got mine, so they're probably very close to two years old as well...and still running strong.

What are you using right now for a humidor and to keep temps down? I know this thread is old but I would like to know.

Might not be bigger, but better for sure.

I wish I could have foreseen and saved my money and gone straight to the vinotemp.
Since he hasn't had a post in almost 5 years, you're probably not getting an answer. :)

You could always start your own thread and ask the question.
