This might be a strange question in a forum such as this but I am a cigar lover and also a long distance runner. So I am curious...when the mist of cigar smoke clears, do any of my fellow botl and sotl lace up there shoes and go for a run. I personally love to go out for a long run early in the morning and then come home to a nice cup of hot coffee and a great cigar.

Just started running again, treadmill anyway. And not really long distance. I'm doing it to drop a few pounds. Lost 9 in the first month. Usually run between 2 and 4 miles. So not a long distance runner at all.

I'm a runner....or was. I hurt my foot nearly 9 months ago and haven't been able to run much at all without discomfort. Dr thinks it's nerve damage but I don't think that he really knows.

I've smokes for 6+ years. I used to do half-marathons, 10k's, and 5k's. I was also starting to do tri's, which are my favorite. I still ride my road bike and after a 60 miler last fall we burned one in celebration.

Hopefully I can get this foot fixed and run again soon. I miss it badly. I have three friends that are runners and cigar smokers too. 2 SOTLs and 1 BOTL.

Great post. You are making me yearn for spring...I run but not nearly as much as I used to. I ran and completed a marathon (yes, they are all 26.2 miles haha...I love when people ask that question) a few years back and I was training outdoors during the winter. It was pretty hard-core and left me with a few aches and pains that get aggravated during the winter so these days I am a fair-weather runner and I still love it. Running early in the day, like you said, is the best time for me. It gets my yah-yah's out and then puts me in a nice, calm state to sit and smoke and enjoy relaxing and smoking at an even deeper level. I love the zone of running and how I feel afterwards. I really can't wait to lace up the shoes and put a few miles on.
Hope you are getting some good miles in out there desert.

I run about 4-5 miles 3-4 times a week and try and lift a couple days as well. My wife is a hardcore runner and cyclist and hates that I smoke, but my running kind of tempers that hate!

More of a fast walker than a runner, I do about 15 miles a week on the treadmill and through the neighborhood. I ran cross country in high school, but bad knees and back have curbed my running. My wife runs marathons and is currently in training for the one in Atlanta coming up next month.

Cigar runners lol. Just sounds funny. I got heavily into running last year, 5k 10k mud runs and my first half marathon. (What a wicked runners high) I'm also an avid cyclist. I did a 70 mile trip to Lake Geneva and back...all great accomplishments. I hope to build on them throughout this year.

I don't run because I get shin splints these days despite exercises to reduce them (I am not overweight). I do get a lot of exercise, however. Stairs at lunch and after work, and I do sprints with my dog. For some reason sprints don't cause shin splints for me. Great post idea :)

Work on your form and keep a straight back and get running shoes just for running .. That's usually the cause

I don't run, I skate haha. I've been skating a few times a week since the outdoor rinks here so I'm probably averaging about 3ish miles total from my games.

Put in 4 miles this afternoon on the treadmill in about 38:45. My longest run in a very long time.

Glad to see we have some runners amongst us. Would love to see more chime in. I'm currently traing for my 3rd marathon. Running about 35 mi a week right now. Maybe if we have enough runners we could organize a 5k or 10k herf in the future. That would be quite the sight. A bunch of runners finish their run at a park, light up cigars and start to bbq.
