My herfin' buddy, the guy who turned me onto cigars, won't touch one. I tried to explain to him about the wrapper/filler ratio, more and better flavor, etc. but he wouldn't budge. I've got a Tat 10th in lance that I'm gonna push on him this weekend, but we'll see how it goes.

On my last trip to the B&M I found exactly one lance in their stock. And this is a place with no small collection. It was the LFD Double Ligero, and I bought it.

They do look funny. But they're hard to beat. The My Father #4, the Oliva V lance, the L40 (of the unico blends), the DPG Blue, the El Triunfador, the Headley Grange... the lancero is the best of all of those lines, and there are plenty more slipping my mind.
I have tried The My Father #4 and the L40 those are pretty amazing, i have tried the headley grange in a different size that was just ok. The DPG,El truinfador Oliva V lance, and the tat black are on my list to try

The Oliva V is stellar. And cheap. Win-win!

OK I have tried the MF, Oliva, L40... not the others. Lots of good reccos on Headley so I will def try that. Den Pepin and Trifunador are up to par with the others?

The trick to understanding lances is to smoke the same blend in a different vitola, and then smoke the lance. Do this a couple of times, and you will start to see where the lance highlights parts of the flavor profile, and subdues the other parts...

In some blends, filler is just that: filler. In other blends filler helps to balance the smoke... Then it becomes more fun finding the right combination of vitola & blend to match your palate.

^^^^this, I didn't really understand the lance until I tried the serie v lance after having tried another vitola. Really brings out some of the enjoyable flavors.

Yeah, me too... It was Serie V, El Triunfador, and Antano 1970 that all "showed me the light" with respect to Lanceros. My first DPG Blue lance, and a MF#4, put the last nail in the coffin.

Yea, tasting the different vitolas is a great idea, something I don't pay enough attention to. I am planning to do that with my Oliva V's. I am interested to see, or taste rather, the comparison!

Love the lance. If a new blend/cigar comes out with multiple sizes, including the lance. That's the one I go for every time.
