I am going to grab some water and start home brewing. Then I will also begin piping today! First up is my bowl packed with my Kendal Plug finally. I ended up making some kick ass sour cherry vanilla cheese cake on Saturday that prevented me from heading onto my patio and enjoying a smoke. I tend to mostly smoke on my commute to work anyhow.

Opted to just smoke and get ready for brewing another day. This is some nice tobacco. Very nice natural flavor. Has a similar flavor to best brown flake, spice is the same but this tastes more rounded and a bit sweeter and smoother. I look forward to some after significant aging.

So I am through half the bowl now and it has solid nicotine. I have a little buzz going. Could be that I haven't smoked since Friday or that my last BBF tin was well aged already and this is much more fresh production. I like this stuff! I need to buy some whole leaf Virginia and make my own plugs ASAP.

It'll be a saison. I decided to bottle up some of the beer I had ready for bottling a little bit today. Some sour beer I brewed last summer that's ready for bottles. It depends on my cap availability on what and how much I bottle though. I got lazy with my corked champagne bottles. I tend to cork with a plain wine cork and then just crown cap them. I still have plenty of bottles that only take corks and cages though.

How'd you like the Dark Star? I have a hard time smoking it because it so sugary and doesn't dry out well for me. I've smoked most of a tin and send some out in the pipe PIF but I won't be buying it again.

I'm burning some GLP Gaslight right now with my coffee. There has to be something better than coffee to pair with latakia heavy blends. It makes my coffee taste metallic because of the latakia flavor for some reason. Any suggestions guys?

stylistically similar in my mind to heinrich dark strong, in that it is wet as shit, and the flake is kinda chunky, but it gives a lot of sweetness suspended over a rich depth. it is a BIG bastard.

this was my first go round with it, out of a freshly popped tin. cube cut it into 1ish cm rectangles, then loaded VERY loosely, and let the expansion of burning and occasional tamp firm up the pack. it really required pacing, and one relight (which is bad for me), but i thought it was worth it. small bowl, even a conical bowl, like a dublin, zulu, or acorn, would immensely help.

then again, if it more aggrivation than pleasure for you, drop it. that's why there are so many brands and styles out there. o)

Penzance in the cob. Just mudded to bottom and it seems to be holding well.
What did you mud it with?
I wanted to follow a recipe I found online but all the activated charcoal I found was pink and in the form of gas pills so I skipped adding that into the mud for obvious reasons... It ended up a mix of cigar ash, distilled water, and a couple drops of maple syrup. The syrup is supposed to help it harden after being heated, and I haven't noticed it impart any flavor to the smoke. If you go overboard with it I can see it affecting flavor.
