This is such a difficult topic. I think blatantly re-gifting specific sticks you were just gifted is not of good taste. But the issue is when you were gifted something that you already had some of. Then when you gift one of those cigars, the person that gifted you one of them thinks that you re-gifted his. But it really wasn't his, it was one you already had lol. That's what I feel the biggest issue with it is. If you can decipher that....way too many pronouns

Indeed, would be a tad uncomfortable to have a recipient post up a image of a bunch of sticks another brother just sent to you. Having a wide variety of sticks in your inventory, one will surely get something they already have. But like others said, when Im in same situation I give away the ones I bought and burn the ones gifted to me,
I was thinking about this yesterday as I was packing up a package that I'm sending out. I've been hit with many cigars lately and I already had quite a few of them in my inventory. Some that I had were saved just for this package. I thought about changing my plans so I don't raise any red flags but I just let it go the way it was.

I've always tried to separate sticks I got from other brothers, either in a dedicated tray or by labeling and I try not to "re-gift" any. In cases where my inventory overlaps I always send out one of mine and smoke the gifted one. At this point I can't think of any cigar I wouldn't try at least once, but if I did come across something that I just flat out didn't like I'd pass it on to CFW or something similar so that someone else could enjoy it.

I'm in the boat of never re gifting the sticks I receive but also not caring what you guys do with sticks I send. They are meant as gifts for you to smoke but if you feel the need to do otherwise then that's fine.

The only time I "re gift" is I may share with a guest like my brother if I want to smoke the same thing and only have two I got in gifts which I would think is fine by anyone since its brotherly(literally and figuratively :))

This seems to get addressed once every year or so here...

As said by several others.. soliciting specific sticks.. and then trying to sell them.. with the intent of making money.. to me is an obvious foul.. (sadly, seen it happen more than once)..

other than that.. I dont care what you do with any stick I might bomb out.. it was a gift... if you smoke it.. great.. share it with a friend.. awesome.. re-bomb it out to someone that might enjoy it more than you.. wonderful.... throw it in the toilet and flush it into the sewer system... joyous...

as long as you got enjoyment out of it or were able to use it in a way that you wanted.. it met its purpose..

I am sure I have "re-gifted"sticks before.. I dont ever consciously do it.. but.. I also rarely label anything, dont track inventory, etc.. and couldnt tell you where half the stuff Ive got sitting in boxes and trays came from (whether I bought them at the B&M or online, my wife bought them for me, they were in a bomb, were something I picked up on a trip, etc..).. If I have offended anyone in doing so.. I apologize... but... would advise, nothing will be changing in the future... (no interest in labeling, tracking, monitoring, etc.. I just send out what I can, when I can, when I feel like it is deserved.. and am happy when someone does the same for me...)...

Everyone has their own process/ feelings ..actually my last drawer in my wineador is gifted sticks so I know not to touch them until the band order comes through again..

But like others I don't bomb out gifted cigars but what I do do is if someone comes over and is stickless and I know for a fact I don't like the stick that's the stick I'll offer out so atleast it goes to good use and of course CFW .. But I make it a point not to rebomb.. But that's me..

I venture to guess there's some cigars on here that have been re-gifted more than fruitcake.

Also, to add to Dave's point, when I give you a cigar, it's yours. If you smoke it, great. If you use it for lawn mulch, so be it. If you re-gift it, I assure you there's a 99.9999% chance that I didn't notice and, if I did, I don't care a bit. If you're taking note of who's doing what with things you gave them and then becoming offended because they didn't do what you wished, it wasn't a gift in the first place.

And yes, posting an ISO then selling, or even posting thar you're just using it to stock pile, is prime db behavior.

To add to this, we're generally a pretty mutually-respectful crowd, so always assume the best case scenario. Give your BOTLs the benefit of the doubt, and if they're not someone you trust to be respectful of the gift, you probably shouldn't be bombing them in the first place!

Out of curiosity, what do you guys do with the sticks you wouldn't want?
several options...

Ive probably got 30 or 40 sticks in my humidor right now that I am reasonably certain I will never smoke.. some I bought on a whim, tried a couple and didnt like.. so the rest just sit there.. others were bombs/gifts... others I used to like, but my tastes have changed/drifted..

I have friends over several times a year that are not regular smokers.. and couldnt care less what they smoke.. they would just like something.. sometimes I reach into this pile and hand them out... I usually send 1 or 2 packages a year to friends that are deployed to Afghanistan and other less than pleasant places.. I'll typically reach into this pile for that as well... occasionally they might make their way into bombs or MaW's if I know someone is looking for something in particular... etc..

Just because I dont like something.. doesnt mean someone else wont...

Honestly I need to buy some bands(anybody interested in selling some?) Im also fairly sure if you search you can find the info to buy bands.

All that aside, because I don't label, I've had occasions where it's possible that a stick was regifted. I try to keep gifted sticks in separate drawers in the vino so it doesn't happen though. I don't mind if someone regifts something I send, just means it's not their thing and nbd.

What if you give a stick to someone in person and then you see that they've sent it to another person in a bomb?

Slap? Knee-to-groin? Small claims court?
