That's alright if I unload on anything, it's going to be the Ortega's.. I am exerting every shred of will power I have though.

Today's smoke is: Epicurian Carnavale Lancero (box press)

Spicy, earthy, a bit creamy with a backdrop of a wine like sweetness and nuts. Great draw and burn with a consistent blend that stays interesting throughout my smoke session. Smoke time 1hr 40mins (90)

First of tha month(wake up)

Quick review
Slightly boring. Of all the ligas I've found the l40 to be semi disappointing. The flavor never pops for me in this format. A little chocolate and sweet spice but no wow factor....especially for the price. Burns pretty well though

...and a bitch ain't one

Never really liked the song, so I wasn't expecting much going into this smoke. It turned out to be ok. Great burn, great draw no relights, yada yada, I mentioned the bisque. The flavors were fairly consistent, dark chocolate some cedar. It hit a nice sweet note right at the end that was a pleasant surprise. Other than that...

85 - Not going to be chasing these, but would smoke again.

Agree completely. Smoked one last month and have 1 more. Maybe 2x will be better. Maybe it'll be a double up day.

Nice Seinfeld ref BTW.

Today was Emilio Draig Cayuquero Lancero
Wrapper Brazilian Arapiraca
Binder / Filler Nicaraguan

The wrapper is a beautiful dark brown, the cigar has a consistent firmness the entire length. I though seemed a little soft but compared it to a TAT brown lance and My Father #4 and they were indistinguishable from one another.

The first third
There was an initial pepper and spice blast that quickly subsided. The flavor profile was subtle cocoa dominated with a nuttiness coming and going.

The second third continued with cocoa, some nuttiness with a floral component entering. It grew over the second third but remained in the
background. The floral notes subsided prior to the final third starting.

Final third the body grew from a previous medium to medium plus. Nicotine punch grew. Cocoa dominated with spice appearing on the retro.

I'm still taking this to a nub, I enjoyed it. I made a mistake I try not to do, I bought only one. I usually buy a minimum of two, I like three. I will buy these if i see them but with only 1,000 made I might not see them again (Cigar Fed still has them, I got this from a B&M).

One reason I wanted to try this now is that Crowned Heads is doing a JD Howard Single Action with Brazilian Arapiraca wrapper with (I presume) Nica filler. Because the flavors were so subtle on this cigar and the wrapper has a lot of influence on a RG of 38 which this was, I will be interested to see what CH does with a similar 6" x 38 petite lance. I really like the fact that this wrapper lacked the sweetness that some darker wrappers have. Not sure if it is good or bad but this upped my interest in the new "Single Action" coming out.

Thanks Dan!

Nice earthy pepper with some cedar notes. Good burn great draw. Some sweetness developed in the final third.
My first but not my last.

A delicious lancero!!
Kind of a weak review, but these remind me of a cross between a Goldie and a My Father #4. Similar spice and flavor profile as the #4 and as close to fine construction as the Goldie in a Lancero vitola with similar 'soft creamy' notes as the Goldie. These aren't sitting on shelves everywhere, so I'd consider it somewhat tricky to find as I believe they can only be procured direct from the El Titan factory. If anyone has an 'in' on these, I'd be down for a split in a heartbeat. 92

Day 1: Lost City
Day 2: Fausto
Day 3: La Riqueza
Day 4: Cabaiguan Guapos

Super salty.. Similar grassiness to what I found in the Fausto lance, but a lesser degree. Not as smooth as the Fausto or the La Riqueza (yes, I will review all 10 from the Tat sampler this month).

Construction is superb. Anyone know how many rollers they used on these? The draw is exactly where I like it -- slight resistance with a medium/full pack and no soft spots. The other two were the same. Consistency rocks.

Believe it or not this is my first Cabaiguan of any kind, as I normally enjoy Tats for their full body, and these are lighter in the line.

If there are shifts I will update this post as I go.

D/FW. Mesquite to be specific.
One of my usual lance/pl tonight

The Tat Havana aka red label. These must not sell much at my bm cause they've all had yellowing cello. It's not one of Petes prettiest sticks from all the ones I've had with most having many veins, though they never really seem to affect the performance of the stick. The strength never reaches full, or even medium to full, so these make good morning smokes if you want something a bit bigger than a pc or robo. The for profile is predominantly woody, with a little pepper into the finish. I have one of the full size from the sampler, interested in seeing if it's any different

Nice review Spanks. The red label do age better than the brown or black by comparison IMO, so any you find with yellow cello is a great find, especially in the Victorias size. I find that when they are fresh they offer up a unique spice which is nice in itself, but aged are pretty hard to beat imo.
