That's a great idea. If you refinish it you could always keep nice wooden humidor in the bar area. Why not use the top section as a bar and keep you sticks in the lower.
Damn, well that's awesome!Hey Throwbookatface, no disrespect but I would disagree. Since it is old it was probably built by craftsman. I have a 53 freezer that once the holes were filled (and I used body filler) it keeps RH perfect. It still has it's old seal, I did clean it with care. I believe if you take your time fill the holes in the bottom compartments, make sure you have a nice seal between the glass this would work great. I pulled the compressor out of mine and use kitty litter and it is rock solid.
I agree, It could be made to work. It all depends on his skill level to make it work. I think it could be a cool storage unit.Hey Throwbookatface, no disrespect but I would disagree. This is a great idea...Then you don't have to worry about the scent and/or toxicity of caulking.I'm a goof, when I should be sleeping I lay awake and think about crap like this. What if you built a cedar cabinet the shape of the cooler and put it inside that with its own sliding doors or hinged doors and then that box would be sealed with the cedar inside and you could just use your find as the carrier for the humi..... I need sleep.
Would it be possible to disassemble and reassemble inside? (...just a thought)Well I ran into a huge problem. I decided to go for it and the thing was to wide to fit through a door. I was so focused on the humidity that I never stopped to measure the door. O well, time to look for something else. Trying to find a modern glass front display fridge from a convenient store. If I could find a cheap one that no longer works I could get rid of the compressor and just have a big sealed box to play with.
