Another example of what an influence this place is thx for yet another slope to slide down!'
EXCELLENT CHOICE! (y) Port is very tasty and distinguished. I enjoy it so much more than hard liquor. Let us know how you like the Sandeman (for $16 or so, it can't be beat). After that, you can always try the aged tawny Ports. :greedy: Taylor Fladgate really excels in that area.

It's definitely a spendy, special occasion Port -- the kind that pi$$es the wife off when you bring it home! Ordinarily she's great, but for some reason she glanced at the receipt and had a minor meltdown. The way I see it, if it's as good as the reviews say and it lasts 7-10 days, it'll be worth it. My go-to daily is the Sandeman Tawny Porto, only $14/bottle when you get it by the case at Premier.

Where'd you get that Glenora? I'm always up for something different...
Hey ZG - what do you recommend for a less spendy Port?

I have never had good luck with less expensive Ports.

Try the Sandeman Tawny Porto above. It's really good for only $16. Nice mouthfeel and finish, with notes of dried fruit. Really makes the cigar flavors pop. If that doesn't do it for you, go for the 10-year aged tawny from Taylor Fladgate. At about $33-35, it's a bit pricey for a daily drinker (at least on my budget). But it has amazing flavor and a loooong finish:

Thanks brother. With how little I drink, the $35 bottle will be fine and probably last me a lifetime lol. Ten drinks at $3.50 isn't bad when you consider the price of the stick I'll be pairing it with lol... Sigh.

Thanks again.

Its amazing how some age can really bring out the flavor in a drink. One of my favorite things to do when I drank was to work on different parings to see what matched up well. I had a few wines here and there but mostly odd label craft beers and single malt scotches. It can really bring out the flavor in a stick and it was fun.

Well, I'm going to have to put off my opening of the Taylor Fladgate 30-year for at least a few more days...My buddy canceled again tonight, saying he's finally got some positive dialogue going with the wife. Hopefully he gets somewhere with her, because I can't hold off much longer. Must...resist...opening!

FINALLY! My friend clandestinely stopped by last night on his way home from a meeting. The seal was broken on the 30-year tawny. Verdict: absolutely STELLAR! Mouthfeel is incredibly full and rich, with dried fruit, molasses and cherry aplenty. The finish is incredibly long...about a full minute. Absolutely fabulous and well worth the painful wait. (y)(y)

Enjoying another glass right now with an Anejo 46. Superb pairing! :D
