I cannot get my humidity raised in this humidor for the life of me. Lol. It's not dangerously low sitting consistently at 62%, but I've been trying to raise it for the past week to 65%. Picture is for your enjoyment.
Is 62% detrimental?Try putting a cup of distilled water into the humidor and leave it shut for 24 hours?? I'd probably recommend maybe taking the cigars out and Ziploc bagging them with boveda's until you can get the humidity up to par in the humidor. I'm sure others will chime in about it as well.
It's a Xikar. Supposed to be already calibrated. When I put it in my other humidor it goes up to 66%. My second humi has the same lid Xikar humidification device. Before you do anything else have you calibrated the hygrometer
He's got 357 bovedas, plus gel plus...Plop it in a glass jar with some of those 69 bovedas and see what it says in 24

This I'm assuming. With all the shit in there, i doubt it'd be the humidification devicesSeal on you humidity is off or hygro is off.
This^^^.Plop it in a glass jar with some of those 69 bovedas and see what it says in 24
It is a medium sized humi with 7 bovedas plus pillow plus gel. It's seal or hygrometer. I would go with hygro being off because if it was the seal, the bovedas would be dry.Was that thing ever seasonned?
I wouldn't trust the precalibration... the other box could be at 72% for what we know.
The analog hygrometer in picture says 78%...
So, seasoning; seal; calibration.
And keep the box shut. You'll never increase rh with the lid open!
I tend to agree... but without knowing how dry it was and how long he's been trying to raise rh, its hard to say.It is a medium sized humi with 7 bovedas plus pillow plus gel. It's seal or hygrometer. I would go with hygro being off because if it was the seal, the bovedas would be dry.
I know people go on and on about seasoning but I've only seasoned one humi and the rest hold humidity fine.
Haha. Ok. I'll toss that.This^^^.
The other thing I would recommend is using only one type of humidification device. I would throw that water pillow in the trash. Stick with Boveda or beads of some type like Heartfelt. Two way humidification is way better than one way.
It was seasoned, but not by me. I purchased the box and about 50 sticks from a friend who is utterly anal when it comes to everything in life. So, I'm assuming he did the seasoning before he put it in. I should probably re-season it just to make sure. Was that thing ever seasonned?

Only about a week or 2.I tend to agree... but without knowing how dry it was and how long he's been trying to raise rh, its hard to say.
Yeah, I've got a couple Bovedas in a ziplock bag to see what the hydrometer says later this evening. I've thrown away the pillow as suggested. My advice, based on what I have read around these parts, is to calibrate the hygrometer as recommended earlier.
After that, just use a few Boveda's and you should be fine!
Just my 2 cents.
