Dunhill Flake in a Dr. Grabow Starfire zulu. Fold & stuff method this time. This tobacco burns nicely when its allowed to dry out in the tin.
What's the cost with shipping for say four tins to the US? Is bank wire transfer the only payment method? How are you liking that blend brother? Just placed another order with Hans, gonna have some new blends to try
PSA - you got a small booger in your right nostril.
Still going over an hour later. It's amazing how long just one flake burns if you use the fold and stuff method. A lot of relights though because tamping is a little difficult. I think I will stick with the rubbed out method in the future.Dunhill Flake in a Dr. Grabow Starfire zulu. Fold & stuff method this time. It's a great low maintenance driving smoke for me tooStorm Front in a Kaywoodie Fineline. Smoked great in this pipe for the entire commute to work.
I agree 100% that you don't have to spend a fortune on briar to get a good smoking rig. However, very inexpensive rigs like Yello-Bole, Medico and the lower end Grabows smoke so poorly they aren't worth using. Missouri Meerschaum Cobs, particularly those with the hardwood inserts, smoke GREAT, don't really get ghosted, and can be smoked repeatedly which make them great choices when out for a day of smoking because you don't need to carry a lot of pipes.I'm no expert and my experience somewhat limited, but my higher end briars smoke much better than the grabows I have had. They don't have to be $100+, I have a briar that was like $35 that smokes like a dream. I look for briars that have thick walls and that have been drilled straight and pass a cleaner without issue. I like bent pipes, but tend to have issues with them gurgling. That being said, I love my cobs and they smoke excellent regardless of what I throw at them. I have found that certain blends are better in briar (I.e.Mississippi River) and others are better in a cob (I.e. EMP)
