I trust you'll find the place you need. It's not a fun thing at all. I'm in the middle of buying my first home right now and it's as frustrating as anyone has ever said it is. In the end it will be worth it to me as I'm tired of renting and I'm ready to have a place that's mine and I can do what I like to improve the place to my standards without it only improving someone else's property. I'm also tired of paying a few hundred more for the same place to rent it.

I hear ya. I owned my own place for 3 years before selling it last year and moving to our current place. It wasn't the right for for long term, so now the misses and I are playing the "where do we want to live" game. We both grew up in California and are pretty disenfranchised with what is going on here with ridiculous housing prices, and the exorbitant cost of living.

Yea that can make it tougher. Tall thinking about moving somewhere else? Still in the southwest somewhere I would guess?

I'm leaning heavily towards outskirts of Portland or possibly Colorado Springs. The misses is less thrilled with the thought of snow and rain, so she's trying to decided if she can live someplace that has seasons lol

As someone who just fruitlessly searched for SoCal digs for two months not long ago, I feel ya Ben. Real estate prices are otherworldly, and rent is almost as bad. At least they are taking steps to ban or curtail Airbnb and other home share services that are helping to take rentals off the market and drive up prices.

Ben, I feel your pain. My wife and I finally bought back in September because we couldn't take moving anymore. Before that, we were in 5 different houses, 5 different years. Same thing of "We're selling, you gotta go." Hopefully you can land at a place you like that doesn't cost too much. Worst case, maybe you can buy some time from your landlord? Best of luck, Jedi!

About to start the horror of moving, not looking forward to the journey but hopefully the destination will be better. I've thankfully not got the time constraints you had Ben, got my fingers crossed it's all worked for you okay mate.

It's never fun at all. Once your in though it's a nice feeling.

I actually read an article about how to not get divorced the other day, and move often was the no. 1 tip, I guess it keeps you from stagnating / getting stuck in a rut.
Link to said article! haha

Colorado is an awesome place to live if you can get used to the altitude. Don't know if Colorado Springs is as bad as Denver area but I've had to stay in the Denver area several times and the latitude always got to me after 3 weeks of being there. Good luck brother, everything will work out.

So we are all set, lease is signed for the new place, and our life is in boxes. Tomorrow we get keys and start moving things across the county.

We ended up finding an actual house at the top of our budget, but it has a big backyard for the dogs and a possible indoor smoking room (win!).

I'll keep everyone updated on the progress, and maybe even throw a little contest once we get settled
