First of all, love the Las Calaveras. I've been enjoying the crap out of them and went through 5 or 6 and passed out another 5.

So, I ended up getting my share from 3 different and ended up with varying degree in quality. The bigger/larger vendor had great looking dark and oily sticks compared to the dull and lighter wrapper sticks from smaller vendor,

when you see them in person, it's much more noticeable.

I can't say for certain the bigger vendors are getting better sticks and I may be overly concerned about nothing but I was disappointed to see the huge contrast.

I've gotten them from two different vendors, and couldn't tell a difference. Could it be storage conditions (either with a vendor, or you've had one in your humi for a couple weeks and one just came off a FedEx truck?)

Do they taste different?

Came in a day apart. Both were preorders. I've mostly been smoking oily ones, had 1 of the other and might have been subconscious but wasn't has good as the oily one. Going to try another tomorrow.

Dude, crazy! I bought some from local B&M today and the quality is totally different from Famous and Cigarlocker! The robusto has a barber-pole wrapper. Smoking it now. Still tastes great, but totally different quality. Insane that you posted this, because I was literally looking at wrapper and wondering same thing. Telepathy is real!

It's probably more likely a difference in sorting for each box than it is by vendor. Every box is going to have cigars who's wrapper was sorted together because of similar traits. Some are going to be darker, others lighter. One of the joys of product that has variations in how mother nature produces the base materials.

Since the boxes come sealed and shrink wrapped from Nicaragua to Nashville, it would be very hard to believe someone is opening each box judging the perceieved quality of the wrapper, and selecting what vendor to send them too.

There is always going to be a small difference in wrapper quality and color, like the in the videos you see them sorting all the cigars by color so each box will have cigars that appear to look the same.

You act like you do this for a living or something.

LC is a pretty consistent brand as far as others and what I've experienced is that they are about as good as it gets. We aren't going to experience the brand as exactly the same with every cigar...it's a product...it's tobacco...so there will be some variance of taste from time to time and I'm ok with that. By and large we're pretty lucky to have brands that are very close to perfection but every once in a while we will have one that we just go......whaaaaaaaaaat?

Last few days I smoked 3 from the second batch and were inferior to the first 5 or so compared to the first batch.
Wrappers started falling a part and flavors were muted.

Very disappointed with this second batch

I've gone to local B&M's where the walk-in's were practically bone dry to over humidified. So far, knock wood the ones I got while in Florida last week were perfectly humidified and looked good when I purchased. They're resting in my humi now but fire will be set upon one very soon....probably later this week soon.
I'm a little OCD/Anal whatever you want to call it when I go to a shop for the first time and kind of gently press the foot of the cigar to see if their over or under humidified before I buy them. Just to be safe.....

One shop, I swear the guy seemed like he didn't give a crap about the cigars in the small walk-in humidor. All that mattered what cigarettes and the lotto machines.
Ya I know what you mean, it's sad really the way a lot of the B&Ms have gone. It seems to be even worse in Canada in my opinion, we have a few good ones around here but there are also a lot of lousy ones. The Humidors aren't cared for properly and when you talk to them about it a lot of the times the owners don't seem to have a clue. They make their money from cigarettes and lotto tickets just like you say.
Good thing for the good B&Ms and online distributors because there are far to many garbage "tobacconists" out there.

Exactly!!! I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees that issue. It really sucks too. Then people wonder why they closed up shop or no longer have a walk-in humidor. I'm always buying on-line but I'll take the time out and stop at a local shop and buy local too. As long as I feel the cigars are properly taken care of in their respected humidor. But like this one shop, I won't buy any cigars there anymore since I had all those troubles.
