BTW, Famous and Cigarlocker were impeccable. And BTW, the cigar still tastes great.
Wow that's crazy! Like Jim said they color match at the factory so some boxes will be lighter/darker than others but that looks like a totally different stick.

By the way this is JdN color matching but they all had women doing it.

As others have said, cigars are color sorted by the box just prior to packaging, so there will always be some degree of color differences from box to box.

The amount of variation will depend on the capa... For example, far less deviation in Ecuador Connecticut Grade 1 and Grade 2 wrappers vs. Ecuador Habano wrappers of the very same grades... it is a natural leaf and part in parcel of that is variation in color, texture, sheen, etc... The issues become more pronounced in even heavier leaf varieties such as Stalk Cut Habano, Nicaraguan Sun Grown Criollo and Broadleaf.

As a tobacco man, you can get the color to even out more, but often that requires you to over ferment the wrapper (IMO) which means you are sacrificing oils which in turn means you are sacrificing flavor and aroma in order to achieve a more even and often but not always, a darker hue.

Personally, I am ok with color variations... my personal practice has always to be to arrest the pilon when the tobacco is combusting properly and is at its peak flavor and aroma wise.

I like picture perfect cigars as much as the next guy, but ultimately I prefer they be at their optimum for smoking enjoyment.

Last few days I smoked 3 from the second batch and were inferior to the first 5 or so compared to the first batch.
Wrappers started falling a part and flavors were muted.

Very disappointed with this second batch
I understand the slight variations, but those things look beat to crap. I don't see how they could have had time to be that affected by storage. They went from the factory to Nashville out to the B&Ms in only about the last 10 days. I'm wondering if it was some kind of transport issue from Nashville to the B&M. Sorry about your luck, man.

I would try hitting up @JonHuber about this. Definitely looks like a construction issue. It happens with a natural product but I am sure Jon will say that is not acceptable.

I will say this as well, this is a good example of why you should let cigars rest a few weeks. Sometimes a delicate wrapper can't take the same abuse a thicker wrapper can.

I thought about hitting up Jon, but I'm going to try and get a refund or exchange from the shop where I got them from. That's what I would do with any product I purchase as a consumer. If they don't respond then I'll ask Jon for some assistant.

@ssaka, I know these are handmade products and can't always be perfect. But after going through 5 or so and passing out another few from this second batch, they're just no good. Wrappers are cracking and flavors are flat compared to the first batch.

What would you do if you had a product that's just way off?
