Hello All,

I've finally decided to man up and stop being a creeper on this forum and finally introduce myself. My name is Nick and I'm 26 years old. I live in Northern/Central Jersey and had a few cigars last year, but have actually gotten into them earlier this year. I've smoked a little less than 20 cigars (I know I'm a serious newbie) and although I enjoy the act of smoking the cigar, I'm still having a lot of trouble actually tasting anything other than burning tobacco. I've read from a lot of you here that I need to keep smoking to develop my palate and have actually tried a few of the more popular ones you all continue to discuss, but seem to miss out on all the wonderful joy and taste that everyone else seems to rave about. I'm hoping that you could all offer some tips and assistance in my journey, as I look forward to taking it with all of you. I currently have a tupperdor with about 20ish sticks in it at about 65-66rh, but am getting a new hygro to make sure I'm really at this thing because even after calibrating my Walmart one I don't trust it (reading 4 percent high) and am not sure if my sticks are too dry/too wet even though I haven't really had any draw/burn issues. Pretty sure this is way too long of an intro but it's long overdue as I've been creeping on the forum for the past 3.5 months. Thanks for reading and I hope to hear from you all soon!

Welcome from Minot,ND. My I suggest some boveda humi packs, they work wonders.
Hey there Mike..I do currently have 3 65 bovedas (not sure if overkill) in the tupperdor as well, but just being paranoid about how the sticks should feel, etc.

Try the 67s out I find a that level of humidity I don't worry as much. Also any plans for a humidor? Being a member here can be hard on storage space.
Sorry to sound like an idiot, but they make 67 bovedas?!? I can't seem to find them via the boveda site or on google lol...also in regards to the humidor, I'm actually getting married in March and will most likely get one when we move into our new place. Btw, thanks for the advice.

Welcome.

Your hygro is fine. If it's off by 4 degrees, just account for that. Why spend more money?
If they're smoking well, don't worry about it. If they're not, change things up.
65 Bovedas are fine.

Just relax about the sticks, it will save you much stress over the years.

Yeah I guess I'm just being paranoid lol

I just want to taste more flavor a so I try to attribute my lack of experience/a palate to maybe not properly hydrating my sticks :(

Yes. You're being paranoid.

Don't worry, almost everyone gets that way.

Welcome from south NJ. You basically have the same set up I do (I have a few more sticks) found 65 to 67 RH to be perfect. Try not to worry too much.
